Padres minor league affiliates went 1-0 in regular season action, as well as 1-0 in exhibition play.

Here is our daily recap of games played.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 5-4 in 10 innings vs Sacramento) (1-1 on the season)

Anthony Vilar – 2-for-3, First Career Triple-A Home Run

Sung-Mun Song – 2-for-4, Two Singles

Triston McKenzie – 2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 3 K (44 pitches – 19 strikes)

Jason Adam – 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K (14 pitches – 11 strikes)

El Paso lost its first extra-inning game of the 2026 season by a 5-4 final score, but even so, there were plenty of notables to focus on. One of the bright spots for El Paso was 2021 15th-round pick Anthony Vilar. Vilar, in his Triple-A debut, finished the game with two hits, including his first career home run at the level. Was it aided by the dimensions of Sutter Health Park? Sure, but such a moment can’t be taken away from the young man.

Sung-Mun Song continued his rehab assignment with a DH day, going 2-for-4 with two singles. Minor league veteran and Chihuahuas fan favorite Nate Mondou hit his first home run of the season to tie the game in the fourth inning, also driving one out to right field. Jase Bowen drew a walk and stole a base in the loss; he had the team’s lone successful stolen base attempt, as Anthony Vilar got caught stealing in the third and Nick Solak was picked off in the fourth.

On the mound, Triston McKenzie started for the Chihuahuas, but his command was notably amiss. The tall right-hander allowed four walks in the first inning, and as a result, Sacramento scratched across two runs against him. McKenzie was much sharper in the second inning, as seven of his 11 pitches in that inning went for strikes, but a 33% strike rate in the first inning is not a formula for success. While his fastball clocked in at 95.0 mph on average with 19.6 inches of induced vertical break, a 26.9% strike percentage essentially neutered the pitch’s effectiveness.

Jason Adam made his first rehab appearance in relief, recording four outs on 14 pitches. Adam’s fastball velocity was a tick down from his 2025 season average, but the right-hander was landing his pitches for strikes. It is not yet known how many more outings he will need before returning to the Padres. Jackson Wolf threw 2.2 innings of one-run baseball in relief, averaging 91.3 mph between his four-seam fastball and sinker. Wolf used six different pitches in his 2.2 innings of work, allowing an average exit velocity of 75.6 mph off the bat. The left-hander is a candidate to be in the rotation once the full week series kick off. Justin Yeager allowed no runs in 1.1 innings, despite walking three batters. Right-hander Eli Villalobos took the loss, failing to locate his pitches effectively to generate whiffs. Villalobos allowed a game-tying double to Buddy Kennedy, and two walks later, Logan Porter grounded into a fielder’s choice to win the game for Sacramento.

San Antonio Missions – Won 7-0 vs Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (2-0 in exhibition play)

The Missions rode the arm of Miguel Mendez to a win over the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos. No data from the exhibition game was made publicly available, though the lineup saw Brendan Durfee catching Mendez.
