Padres affiliates went 1-3 on Wednesday.
Here is a recap of games played.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 14-8 vs Sugar Land) (40-37 on the season)
Forrest Wall – 3-for-4, Three-Run Home Run

Mason McCoy – 2-for-5, Three-Run Home Run
Jackson Wolf – 4.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R (5 ER), 1 BB, 3 K (77 pitches – 49 strikes)
El Paso rode four home runs to a win over Sugar Land in a game that ended with a score usually found on the gridiron, 14-8. Forrest Wall had a three-hit day for the Chihuahuas, including an early game-tying three-run homer in the second. Clay Dungan launched a two-run homer three batters later. Mason McCoy hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning, and Luis Campusano hit his 12th homer of the season in the sixth, a two-run shot. Tim Locastro had two RBI in the game and finished halfway to a cycle.
Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. Especially if it’s a 3 run HR… pic.twitter.com/cOVSFMtMBP

Jackson Wolf pitched 4.1 innings of seven-run ball, although only five runs were earned. He struck out three and walked one. Leading with the four-seam fastball has not worked for Wolf, as the pitch has been torched in his last four starts. Despite this, the El Paso bullpen only allowed one run the rest of the way. Bradgley Rodriguez made his first appearance in 17 days, tossing a 1-2-3 sixth inning with his sinker sitting at 98.6 mph. Alek Jacob allowed a run in an inning of work, striking out one. Francis Pena struck out two batters in a scoreless inning of work, and Ron Marinaccio tossed a quick and breezy 1-2-3 ninth to close out a 14-8 win.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 18-4 vs Midland) (40-31 on the season)
Romeo Sanabria – 1-for-4, Solo Home Run
Moises Gomez – 1-for-4, Two-Run Home Run
Jared Kollar – 1.2 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 2 BB, 0 K (47 pitches – 23 strikes)
San Antonio was blown out by the Midland offense, which chased starter Jared Kollar after five outs. The RockHounds tagged Kollar for six hits, two walks, and eight earned runs. Kollar’s struggles can partially be attributed to an unsustainable 16.7% HR/FB ratio and an elevated .337 BABIP this season, but the right-hander will need to pick up the strikeouts to remain effective, as his 9% strikeout rate this season is one of the lowest in the entire system. The only San Antonio arm to toss a scoreless outing was Andrew Moore, who recorded one out. Ryan Och allowed two runs in two innings, Jose Geraldo allowed three runs in 1.1 innings, and J.B. Wendelken allowed four runs in 0.2 innings. The team resorted to having position player Wyatt Hoffman toss the final two innings, where he allowed one run.
At the plate, Romeo Sanabria opened the scoring with his sixth home run of the season, a solo homer in the second inning. Kai Murphy hit a sacrifice fly later in the frame to score Devin Ortiz. Moises Gomez hit his first home run in two months, a two-run shot in the fifth inning to score Francisco Acuna. Gomez also had an outfield assist in the game, the second consecutive game to see a Missions outfielder throw out a runner on the bases. Anthony Vilar reached base twice on a single and a walk.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 11-0 vs Great Lakes) (34-36 on the season)
Leo De Vries – 3-for-4, Two Doubles
Harry Gustin – 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 0 K (19 pitches – 11 strikes)
Nick Wissman – 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K (35 pitches – 18 strikes)
Fort Wayne’s bullpen game saw the team surrender 11 runs in a shutout loss. Harry Gustin, in the midst of a stellar season, served as the opener, allowing one run on two hits in an inning of work. Nick Wissman tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, his fifth scoreless appearance this month. Sean Barnett walked two and allowed two runs in 0.2 innings of work, again struggling out of the stretch. Sam Whiting threw the bulk of the innings, working three innings and allowing four runs (three earned). Luis German threw 1.1 scoreless innings with a strikeout, and position player Victor Duarte threw the ninth, allowing four runs.
The lineup did not have their most productive days, but even on days like this there can be performances that show signs of life. The latest was that of Leo De Vries, who had three hits in the game, including two doubles. De Vries is looking to turn a corner after a difficult start to the month; his eye at the plate remains elite, and if he continues to make hard contact, he could have a promotion-worthy second half. Brendan Durfee had a single in four at-bats, throwing out one of three attempted base-stealers behind the plate. Jack Costello had a single in two at-bats, and Rosman Verdugo also singled in the game.
Leo De Vries notches his fourth game of the season with at least 3 hits for the High-A @TinCaps! ?

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 11-6 vs Modesto) (30-41 on the season)
Carlos Rodriguez – 1-for-4, Two-Run Home Run
Ryan Wilson – 1-for-4, Two-Run Single
Kash Mayfield – 0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K (34 pitches – 21 strikes)
Kash Mayfield labored through a 34-pitch first inning, exiting with two outs due to the pitch count (the Padres and other teams make it standard practice not to have minor leaguers throw more than 35 pitches in an inning). Mayfield struck out one and walked two, allowing one earned run. Former Ivy Leaguer Tanner Smith made his Storm debut, tossing two innings of one-run baseball and striking out three batters for a positive first impression. Bernard Jose threw three innings of three-run ball, victimized by two home runs allowed. Right-hander Adam Conrad had his worst outing of the year, allowing five earned runs and recording only one out. Braian Salazar threw two scoreless innings, his first scoreless appearance since June 12.
Lake Elsinore went on to score six runs despite the seemingly lopsided score. After starter Justin Sanchez was pulled, the Storm rallied against reliever Jean Munoz. Lamar King Jr and Zach Evans walked to load the bases, and B.Y. Choi drew a bases-loaded walk to score the team’s first run. Kaden Hollow followed up with another bases-loaded walk to score a second run, and Ryan Wilson broke the walk streak… with a two-RBI single. Carlos Rodriguez drove in two runs in the ninth with his first Single-A home run, and the score would end 11-6. Cobb Hightower reached base twice in the game, and while his slash line since coming back from injury hasn’t been as strong as he may like, he has reached base in six of his last seven games.
