Padres affiliates wrapped up a packed Tuesday with a 0-0 record.

Here is our daily recap of games played. Yes, all seven of them. It’s good to be back!

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 7-2 vs Sugar Land) (25-33 on the season)

Nick Schnell – 1-for-4, RBI Double

Marcos Castanon – 1-for-4, RBI Single

German Marquez – 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K (36 pitches – 23 strikes)

Right-hander German Marquez made his first rehab appearance, recovering from nerve irritation in his right forearm. Clearly, on a pitch count, Marquez threw 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball. The right-hander struck out three batters, issuing no walks. Marquez averaged 95.1 mph on his fastball, touching as high as 97.0 mph. Marquez was effective, as the velocity bump from his season averages allowed him to generate whiffs on 32% of swings. Marquez will likely need 3-4 more rehab starts to build back up, barring a move to the bullpen. Jackson Wolf was saddled with the loss, as three unearned runs bit the Chihuahuas’ staff in the rear. James Nelson hit a game-tying sacrifice fly in the fifth, and after a walk to Cavan Biggio, Samad Taylor committed a fielding error on a ball off the bat of Joey Loperfido. Had Taylor made a play, the inning would have had two outs. Instead, Shay Whitcomb hit a two-run double to give Sugar Land the lead. Wolf was charged with one more run before being pulled. Logan Gillaspie allowed one run in 2.1 innings, and Michael Flynn was charged with two runs in two innings.

Nick Schnell put the Chihuahuas on the board with an RBI double. Schnell has quietly found success, mostly against right-handed pitching. Marcos Castanon drove in the Chihuahuas’ second run of the game with an RBI single in the sixth inning. Pablo Reyes hit two singles in five at-bats, and Mason McCoy was 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored. Samad Taylor reached base twice in the game on a single and a walk.

San Antonio Missions (Won 4-1 vs Wichita) (21-31 on the season)

Albert Fabian – 2-for-3, Two Doubles, Sac Fly, Two RBI

Ryan Jackson – 2-for-4, Double, RBI

Ian Koenig – 7 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 7 K (101 pitches – 64 strikes)

Ian Koenig continued his recent stretch of success, as he pitched seven innings for the second time this season. Koenig struck out seven Wichita batters on Tuesday, matching his season high. Wichita’s lone run of the game came in the second inning. Poncho Ruiz hit a pop-up to short, where Francisco Acuna picked it on a short hop. Acuna flipped the ball to Carson Tucker for the forceout, but Tucker’s throw to first base was high and past Romeo Sanabria, allowing Billy Amick to score. Outside of this miscue, the Missions’ defense backed their starter, who picked up six outs on ground balls. Koenig has now thrown 19 innings in his last three starts, allowing just three earned runs. He’s struck out 20 in that span, walking four (but hitting three batters). If the emergence is real, his development is a plus-plus for the former UDFA from Cabrillo Junior College.

Albert Fabian hit two doubles for the Missions, driving in two runs. Fabian’s first double was barreled down the line, scoring Ryan Jackson from first base. Braedon Karpathios singled to left field in the third, and Ethan Salas made an aggressive turn from second to force a throw, scoring the go-ahead run. The Missions pushed across two more in the fifth inning, as Tirso Ornelas and Braedon Karpathios reached base with one out. Ryan Jackson then grounded a hustle double down the first base line, scoring Ornelas. Albert Fabian’s sacrifice fly scored Karpathios to bring the lead to 4-1. Romeo Sanabria finished 2-for-5 with a double, and Ethan Salas threw out one of two stolen base attempts. Kai Roberts reached base twice, swiping his team-leading 15th stolen base of the season. Johan Moreno threw the final two innings, allowing no hits. Moreno struck out two batters, picking up the save.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 6-5 vs Lake County) (24-28 on the season)

Justin DeCriscio – 2-for-5, Walk-off RBI Single

Jack Costello – 1-for-3, Home Run, Sac Fly, Three RBI

Matthew Watson – 5 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 7 K (81 pitches – 49 strikes)

A back-and-forth affair saw the TinCaps pick up their sixth consecutive comeback victory. Starting pitcher Matthew Watson crossed the 80-pitch mark for the first time as a professional, pitching five innings of four-run baseball. Watson allowed three hits and four runs in the first inning, but nothing more afterwards. Watson struck out seven batters in his start, touching as high as 96 mph with his fastball. Ty Adcock pitched two innings in relief, striking out three but giving up a solo home run. Ryan Och’s rehab assignment was transferred to Fort Wayne, and the left-hander pitched a scoreless eighth inning, striking out two. Clay Edmondson’s scoreless streak continued, as the TinCaps’ closer threw a scoreless ninth, keeping the game tied at five.

The TinCaps got production from all parts of the lineup, which has been a formula for their best successes this season. Lamar King Jr hit two singles, while also walking once and scoring a run. Jack Costello hit another extra-base hit against a left-handed pitcher, launching a two-run home run in the second inning. The former USD Torero has excelled against left-handed pitchers this season, hitting .313 with an .864 OPS. Alex McCoy hit an RBI single in the third inning to cut the TInCaps’ deficit to one run. Though this base hit was McCoy’s only one of the game, he would come in to score a run later in the game. Fort Wayne took a lead in the home half of the sixth inning, as King Jr and McCoy reached base to open the inning. Now facing reliever Logan McGuire, a groundout by Jake Cunningham moved the runners to second and third. Jack Costello barreled a slider to center field, where Jace LaViolette made the catch. King Jr tagged up to score, but the throw instead went to second base to try and get McCoy diving back. McCoy was safe, and the run counted. Carlos E. Rodriguez then singled to score McCoy, giving the team a 5-4 lead. After the game was tied at five, the TinCaps were able to avoid extra innings with a ninth-inning rally. Rodriguez and Zach Evans walked with one out, and Kasen Wells hit a groundout to the pitcher that allowed the runners to advance. Already with one hit in the game, Justin DeCriscio grounded a single past the drawn-in infield towards second base, scoring Rodriguez and sending the home crowd home happy.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-5 vs Fresno) (30-22 on the season)

Kerrington Cross – 1-for-3, RBI Single, Two Walks

George Bilecki – 1-for-2, RBI Single, Sac Fly

Winyer Chourio – 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 4 K (85 pitches – 48 strikes)

Winyer Chourio pitched five innings of three-run baseball against Fresno, striking out four. The right-hander allowed three runs on five hits, but also walked three. Chourio has not been getting the same whiffs he did earlier in the season, as he only generated six swings and misses all game. The 22-year old has a 9-to-7 K-to-BB ratio in his last two starts, which have seen him allow five runs. Joseph Herrera pitched two innings of scoreless relief, striking out two batters. Vicarte Domingo allowed a solo home run in an inning of work. Will Koger pitched the ninth in what was originally a save situation, but Fresno got two runs and three hits against him in one-third of an inning to walk off the Storm.

At the dish, Jorge Quintana hit the team’s only extra-base hit with a double. Kerrington Cross drew two walks and also drove in two runs. Cross’s RBI single in the seventh scored Bradley Frye, while his bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning scored Jorge Quintana. George Bilecki drove in two runs in the game, as his RBI single scored Yoiber Ocopio. Bradley Frye entered the game as a pinch-hitter and stayed in to play third base; he drew a walk in each of his two plate appearances. Jose Verdugo hit two singles, scoring a run in the loss.

ACL Padres (Won 9-2 vs ACL Giants) (11-11 on the season)

Jhoan De La Cruz – 2-for-4, Triple, Double, Two RBI

Fabian Alcantara – 1-for-3, Two-Run Home Run

Jeronimo Palmeros – 1.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K

The Padres’ offense broke out for nine runs, picking up their 11th win of the season. Jhoan De La Cruz had his big breakthrough, finishing with a triple, double, and two RBI. De La Cruz broke out of a 1-for-19 stretch with this performance. Moises Valdez hit two doubles, coming around to score one run. The 5-foot-8 Valdez has 10 hits in his last 21 at-bats. Fabian Alcantara hit a two-run home run, his second of the season, in the fourth inning to tie the game. Jhojan Downer hit two singles, scoring a run. Dawson Willis hit his third double of the season, scoring a run in the win.

Jeronimo Palmeros started for the Padres, pitching 1.1 innings of two-run baseball. The left-hander struck out two batters but allowed four hits and a walk. Palmeros has not had the easiest of goings to start his ACL career, but he showed enough promise in the DSL for the stateside promotion. At just 19, the Mexican-born Palmeros has plenty of time to make a name for himself this season. Landry Jurecka threw 1.2 innings in relief, striking out two. The right-hander continues to work his way back from injury, and his role upon returning to the Storm remains to be seen (as Carlos Medina has seized the opportunity in the rotation). Erick Batista struck out two in three scoreless innings, earning the win. Bernard Jose fanned two in a scoreless seventh inning.

I'd like this amount to

DSL Padres Gold (Won 11-7 vs DSL Brewers Blue) (1-1 on the season)

Ricardo De La Paz – 2-for-3, Double, RBI, Two Runs Scored

Abraham Bastidas – 1-for-2, Triple, RBI, Two HBP

Carlos Alvarez – 2.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 3 K

Left-hander Carlos Alvarez made his first start of 2026, striking out three batters in 2.2 innings of work. Alvarez allowed three runs on four hits, issuing three walks. While it was not the most picturesque outing, it was a starting point for the left-hander; a diagnostic, if you will. Josias Figuereo picked up the final out of the third inning, stranding an inherited runner. Marco Eluscat allowed four runs (two earned) in 2.1 innings of relief, striking out three. One of the team’s breakout performers in 2025, Eluscat is looking to build upon his debut season. Albieris Polanco picked up the win with 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out two.

Ricardo De La Paz had himself a day, reaching base twice and scoring two runs. De La Paz also hit a double and drove in a run. Eddson Martinez went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBI, and two walks. Shortstop Joniel Hernandez, one of the Padres’ top signees for the 2025-26 international signing period, hit a two-run double in the game. Hernandez also drew a walk and has three RBI and a stolen base across his first two career games. Abraham Bastidas hit a triple, driving in a run. Bastidas was also plunked twice, scoring two runs in a winning effort.

DSL Padres Brown (Lost 10–6 vs DSL Orioles Black) (0-2 on the season)

Sebastian Nadales – 3-for-4, Double, Three RBI

Eliander Primera – 1-for-3, Single, Walk, RBI

Randy Soto – 1.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 1 K

The Padres Brown’s pitching staff struggled against the DSL Orioles Black, giving up 12 hits and seven walks in six innings of work. Starting pitcher Randy Soto allowed five runs in his debut, striking out one. Soto issued three walks, but did not surrender any home runs. Dioscaride Sarit took the loss despite a team-best five strikeouts. Sarit gave up three runs in two innings of work, allowing three hits and walking three. Kelvin Marte pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits; Marte fanned two batters in relief.

At the dish, Sebastian Nadales led the team in hits and RBI. Usually a middle infielder, Nadales served as the team’s DH, finishing 3-for-4. Nadales hit a double in the third inning, which cleared the bases and tied the game at five. Nadales scored a run in the seventh inning on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Eliander Primera. Primera reached base three times in the loss. Luis Rodriguez picked up the first hit of his career with a pinch-hit single. Pedro Silva singled and drew two walks, and Osmy Osorio hit his first career single, going 1-for-4.
