El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 4-3 vs Sugar Land) (42-53 on the season)

Bryce Johnson – 2-for-4, Walk-off RBI Single

Carlos D. Rodriguez – 2-for-4, Home Run, RBI

Michael Flynn – 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K (23 pitches – 16 strikes)

Bryce Johnson’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning earned El Paso a hard-fought 4-3 win over Sugar Land in the series finale. The Chihuahuas rolled with a bullpen game, and Michael Flynn served as the opener. Flynn threw two scoreless innings, striking out one batter. Across his last six outings, spanning nine innings, Flynn has pitched to a 0.00 ERA, striking out nine against just one base on balls. Ty Adcock threw 1.2 scoreless innings as well, walking two and striking out one. Logan Gillaspie pitched 1.1 innings in relief, allowing two hits. Since returning from the IL, the 29-year-old Gillaspie has allowed seven baserunners in 3.2 innings. Johan Moreno struck out one in a scoreless inning, his third scoreless outing in four June appearances. Daison Acosta allowed three runs (one earned) in one inning. Ethan Routzahn pitched a scoreless eighth for the second time in three games, and Alek Jacob pitched a scoreless ninth, setting the stage for a big finish.

El Paso picked up two runs against Sugar Land starter Ethan Pecko. Will Wagner opened the scoring for El Paso with an RBI single, with Nick Solak scoring a run. Wagner scored on an opposite-field base hit off the bat of Nick Pratto. Pratto worked an 11-pitch at-bat to secure said hit. Carlos D. Rodriguez hit a home run in the sixth inning, a solo home run to extend the lead to 3-0. Clay Dungan and Blake Hunt hit back-to-back one-out singles in the ninth inning, putting a runner in scoring position. Bryce Johnson then lined a single to center field, with Dungan coming in to score the winning run. Eight of nine Chihuahuas starters reached base in the game.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 4-3 vs Corpus Christi) (41-49 on the season)

Ethan Salas – 2-for-4, Double, Two Runs Scored

Albert Fabian – 2-for-4, Two Singles, Two RBI

Andrew Thurman – 3 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 6 K (84 pitches – 43 strikes)

The Missions saw a pair of multi-hit performances serve as the highlight of a 4-3 loss to the Hooks. Ethan Salas had two hits, including a double, scoring two of the Missions’ three runs. Salas’ two hits came off the bat at 104 & 111 mph, and he threw out two of six attempted base thieves. Albert Fabian hit two singles in the game, driving in two runs. Both of Fabian’s RBI singles scored Salas. Jake Cunningham had a single and a walk in the game, scoring a run on Ryan Jackson’s eighth-inning RBI single. Wyatt Hoffman went 1-for-4 with a triple in the game, and Carson Tucker went 0-for-3 with a walk in the game. 

Andrew Thurman pitched three innings of four-run baseball. The right-hander allowed six hits in the game, but also struck out six batters. Thurman has struck out 12 batters in 12 innings across his last three games, all starts. Francis Pena pitched two scoreless innings in relief, striking out one batter. Pena has now lowered his ERA to 2.93 after allowing just one run in 8.2 innings this month. Garrett Hawkins struck out two in two innings of relief, and has struck out 11 batters in 6.2 innings since being reassigned to the Missions. Sadrac Franco pitched two innings of scoreless relief, striking out four of eight batters faced. 

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 6-2 vs Lansing) (37-52 on the season)

Kavares Tears – 2-for-4, Home Run, RBI

Carlos E. Rodriguez – 1-for-4, Home Run, RBI

Abraham Parra – 5 IP, 2 H, 2 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 3 K (54 pitches – 36 strikes)

Right-hander Abraham Parra pitched five innings on 54 pitches, striking out three batters. The right-hander picked up five ground ball outs, and threw 67% of his pitches for strikes. Parra was efficient and effective, allowing just two unearned runs in the game. The right-hander has thrown five innings in each of his last two starts, allowing just one earned run in those two games. Braian Salazar pitched 1.1 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks. Salazar allowed a go-ahead single to Ali Camarillo in the sixth and departed in the seventh with the bases loaded. Will Koger entered with the bases loaded, picking up a forceout before walking in one of his inherited runners, extending the Lansing lead to 4-2. Luis German picked up one out in the eighth inning, allowing two runs. Javier Chacon picked up two outs in the inning, keeping the deficit at 6-2. Carlos E. Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the second inning. Rodriguez’s home run scored the TinCaps’ lone run against starting pitcher Ben Hansen. Kavares Tears tied the game on a left-on-left home run in the sixth inning. Tears had two base hits in the game. Luke Cantwell and Alex McCoy hit singles in the loss, but the TinCaps went 0-for-2 on stolen base attempts and 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. 

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 11-5 vs Ontario) (46-44 on the season)

Qrey Lott – 1-for-3, Double, RBI

Colton Vincent – 1-for-2, Single, Two RBI

Luis Maracara – 1.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 0 K (39 pitches – 16 strikes)

Lake Elsinore starter Luis Maracara picked up just four outs, walking four batters. Maracara did not record a strikeout, allowing two runs. Landry Jurecka allowed a two-run home run in 1.2 innings of relief, as did Isaiah Lowe in one inning. Jeferson Villabona allowed three runs in one inning, and Daichi Moriki allowed two runs in 1.1 innings. Brandon Langley pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing one inherited runner to score but nothing more. The Storm were held scoreless until the fifth inning, when Qrey Lott’s tenth double of the season scored George Bilecki from third; Bilecki had doubled earlier in the frame. The Storm loaded the bases in the seventh, and Dawson Willis drew a bases-loaded walk. Colton Vincent, in his first game of the year with the Storm, singled to score two runners. Jose Verdugo hit a sacrifice fly to score the fourth run of the inning. Jorge Quintana drew two walks, as did the aforementioned Dawson Willis Lake Elsinore went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position in the loss.
