Padres minor league affiliates went 3-2 on Friday.

Here is our daily recap of games played.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 12-1 vs Sacramento) (68-55 on the season)

Rodolfo Duran – 2-for-5, Home Run, Three RBI

Will Wagner – 1-for-5, Double, Three RBI

Jackson Wolf – 7.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 8 K (95 pitches – 66 strikes)

Left-hander Jackson Wolf pitched his longest outing of the season, pitching into the eighth inning. Wolf pitched seven innings of no-hit baseball before allowing two hits in the eighth. The former West Virginia Mountaineer struck out eight batters while walking only one. For Wolf, it was his first time pitching into the seventh this season, and his first outing pitching at least seven innings since July 7, 2023. Sean Reynolds got the final out of the eighth inning. Bradgley Rodriguez, activated off the injured list prior to the game, pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win.

At the plate, all members of the starting lineup reached base at least once in the game. Tyler Wade drew three walks as the leadoff man, scoring twice. Will Wagner had one hit, but hsi lone hit was a double off Sacramento starter Mason Black to clear the bases and give the Chihuahuas a commanding 6-0 lead. Mason McCoy had one hit and three walks, driving in three runs. Rodolfo Duran hit his tenth home run of the season, driving in three runs in the game. Duran has been on fire since June, but August has been his hottest month of the season, as he is hitting .426 with a .471 on-base percentage and .787 slugging.

San Antonio Missions (Won 1-0 in 10 innings vs Amarillo) (58-60 on the season)

Moises Gomez – 0-for-3, Game-Winning Sac Fly

Braedon Karpathios – 1-for-4, Single

Enmanuel Pinales – 6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K (93 pitches – 55 strikes)

San Antonio and Amarillo engaged in a Wild West pitchers’ duel between Enmanuel Pinales and Daniel Eagen, making his Double-A debut. Pinales was sharp for the Missions, pitching six scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Pinales walked only two, recording eight of 18 outs via the groundball. Stephen Jones fired off one inning of scoreless ball, and Misael Tamarez threw two scoreless with a pair of strikeouts. Ethan Routzahn earned the win with a scoreless tenth inning, striking out one and not letting the automatic runner advance.

San Antonio struggled against Amarillo starter Daniel Eagen, who in his Sod Poodles debut, pitched 7.2 innings of scoreless ball, 5.2 of which were hitless. Braedon Karpathios and Anthony Vilar recorded the only Missions hits against Eagen, both hitting singles. An interesting note from Eagen’s outing: Daniel Eagen’s debut outing was the longest in terms of innings in the history of the Amarillo Sod Poodles, which includes their time as a Padres minor league affiliate (h/t Austin Hartsfield of Sideline Sports). Francisco Acuna led off the ninth with a single against southpaw Phillip Abner, but failed to score. Albert Fabian was the automatic runner in the bottom of the tenth, but Damon Dues was called on to pinch-run. Dues reached third after two walks. Moises Gomez hit a fly ball to right field, where Gavin Conticello made the catch. The fly ball was not hit deep to right, but Dues tagged up, and the throw from Conticello was late as Dues scored to win the game for San Antonio.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 5-3 vs Lake County) (53-64 on the season)

Jonathan Vastine – 3-for-4, RBI Double

Kasen Wells – 1-for-4, Double

Isaiah Lowe – 4 IP, 8 H, 5 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 2 K (77 pitches – 48 strikes)

Fort Wayne used a three-run second to take an early lead, but a five-run home third inning proved the difference in a 5-3 loss. Isaiah Lowe started for the TinCaps, but surrendered eight hits in four innings of work. A pair of third inning errors did not help the right-hander, as Lake County’s Jeffrey Mercedes would hit a three-run homer to give the Captains a 5-3 lead. Bodi Rascon pitched three scoreless innings in relief of Lowe, striking out one. C.J. Widger tossed a scoreless eighth, fanning three of four batters faced. At the plate, Jonathan Vastine had his first professional three-hit game. Vastine was also part of the TinCaps’ second inning rally, as he doubled to score Jack Costello. Kai Roberts drove in the TinCaps’ first run with a bunt single and error combo that allowed both he and Jack Costello to take an extra base. Chase Valentine dropped down a squeeze bunt to score Roberts from third to score the TinCaps’ third run. Kasen Wells had a double in four at-bats, and Rosman Verdugo drew two walks in the loss.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 3-0 vs Stockton) (52-66 on the season)

Carlos Rodriguez – 1-for-2, Double

Maikel Miralles – 4.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 4 K (74 pitches – 43 strikes)

Lake Elsinore was only able to muster one hit against the Stockton pitching staff in a shutout loss. Carlos Rodriguez’s first inning double was the Storm’s lone hit of the game. With Rodriguez at second and Alex McCoy at third with one out, Lake Elsinore had their best chance to score, but Jorge Quintana struck out and Ryan Wideman grounded out to strand the two runners. Stockton’s pitching staff faced the minimum over the final eight innings, with a ninth-inning walk by Bradley Frye erased on a double play off the bat of Dylan Grego. On the mound, Maikel Miralles cruised through the first three innings before walking three in the fourth. Despite the walks, a failed stolen base attempt by the Ports allowed Miralles to keep the score knotted at zero. Miralles was not as lucky in the fifth, as a single and walk opened the inning. Miralles got out number one, but threw a flat slider to Bobby Blandford, who did not miss it, crushing the ball 363 feet to right field to give the Ports a 3-0 lead. Miralles was relieved after the homer by Kleiber Olmedo, who bounced back from a walk-off homer to toss 1.2 scoreless innings. Winyer Chourio and Landry Jurecka pitched scoreless innings in the loss.

DSL Padres Gold (Won 12-4 vs DSL Arizona Red) (2-0 in the postseason)

Santiago Contreras – 4-for-5, Double, Two Runs Scored

Jhoan De La Cruz – 2-for-4, Two RBI

Raymel Belliard – 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 1 K

The Padres Gold improved to 2-0 in pool play on their quest for the inaugural DSL Cup. Raymel Belliard provided the Padres with three innings of one-run baseball, with the one run being unearned. It was an efficient outing for Belliard, who ended the season in strong form. Edwyn Hernandez did not retire any of his three batters faced in relief, but Johan Minaya pitched 3.1 innings of one-run baseball in relief, working around five walks. Miguel Alvarez and Daniel Burciaga each pitched one inning in relief once the game was out of reach.

Santiago Contreras had four hits at the bottom of the lineup, scoring two runs. Jhoan De La Cruz singled to score two runs in the third inning, which gave the Padres Gold a 3-1 lead at the time. Eduarlin Tejeda had three hits, driving in two runs in the process. Edison Martinez drew three walks, scoring three runs. The lineup went 6-for-20 with runners in scoring position. The Padres Gold also turned four double plays and recorded two outfield assists in a dominant win.
