San Diego Padres farm affiliates went 3-3 on Friday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 7-2 vs Oklahoma City (43-63 on the season)

Tirso Ornelas – 2 for 4, Two-Run Home Run
Jared Kollar – 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K (101 pitches, 67 strikes)

Making his first start at home for the El Paso Chihuahuas, Jared Kollar certainly made a strong first impression. The right-hander worked six strong innings, with the lone runs on his line coming on solo home runs. Kollar struck out four batters, escaping a runners-on-the-corners jam in the second with a timely strikeout. The Chihuahuas’ offense brought the thump, as Eguy Rosario capped a four-run fourth with a mammoth three-run home run, his 15th of the season. Tirso Ornelas continued his tear at the plate, hitting his 16th home run of the season off Michael Grove. The team’s 4 for 11 with runners in scoring position, paired with a solid outing from Kollar and three shutout innings from the bullpen, led the Chihuahuas to a 7-2 win.

San Antonio Missions (Won 5-2 vs Frisco) (46-52 on the season)
Ripken Reyes – 2 for 3, Four RBI
Connor Hollis – 2 for 3, Triple, Two Runs

Henry Baez – 6 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 7 K (84 pitches, 56 strikes)
Ripken Reyes had quite the ballgame, as the Missions’ shortstop drove in four runs out of the leadoff spot in the lineup. Reyes gave the team a 3-0 lead in the fifth with a bases-clearing double, his ninth double of the season. Cole Cummings drove in Reyes on an RBI groundout, making it 4-0 after five innings. Henry Baez took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, the lone hit he allowed coming on a solo home run with one out in the sixth. Baez was masterful in his second Double-A start, striking out seven batters. Back to the offense, Ripken Reyes drove in one more run just for good measure, scoring Connor Hollis in the seventh. Carter Loewen struck out three in one inning of relief, and Ethan Routzahn pitched a scoreless ninth to secure his sixth save of the season, as well as a Missions win.
In Missions-related news, Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove will make a rehab start for the Missions on Sunday August 4.

Fort Wayne TinCaps – Rained Out vs West Michigan
The TinCaps’ regularly scheduled game vs the Whitecaps was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on August 3 at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-1 vs Fresno) (51-47 on the season)
Lamar King Jr – 1 for 4, Triple
Colton Vincent – 1 for 3, Double
Ian Koenig – 4 IP, 9 H, 5 R (4 ER), 1 BB, 2 K (78 pitches, 47 strikes)

The Storm’s offense was stymied for most of the game, as the team only mustered five hits in nine innings. Recent callup Lamar King Jr went 1 for 4 with a triple as the designated hitter, and shortstop B.Y. Choi was held hitless. The team’s lone run came on a sacrifice fly by Jose Sanabria in the third inning. Leodalis De Vries did not play in the game.
On the mound, Ian Koenig had a long outing, battling through constant base traffic in four innings. Koenig lasted four innings, allowing nine hits. Two of those hits went over the fence, and Koenig did not have a single 1-2-3 inning. Luis German struck out four in two innings of relief, and Will Varmette struck out the side in the ninth.

DSL Padres Gold (Lost 6-5 vs DSL Brewers 1) (19-24 on the season)
Estiven Giron – 1 for 4, RBI Double
Yimy Tovar – 2 for 3, RBI
Elvis Reyes – 4.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 1 K

The Padres Gold showed some fight in their bats, overcoming an early 4-0 deficit to come back and tie the game. Starter Elvis Reyes struggled, allowing four runs in 4.1 innings, although three of those came in the final inning he pitched. Yimy Tovar and Estiven Giron drove in a run each to narrow the deficit, before the Padres tied the game on a balk and double steal. A wild pitch by reliever Anderson Ortiz made the score 5-4, but the Padres’ tenacity led them to tie the game on an RBI double from Gustavo Marquez. The magic ran out in the ninth, when right-hander Leandry Diaz allowed the go-ahead run on an RBI double. The Padres got the tying run to second base with no outs, but Brewers reliever Joshua Quezada retired the final three batters to close out a 6-5 loss for the Padres Gold.

DSL Padres Brown (Two Games Played)
Game 1 – Padres Brown won 6-5 vs DSL Astros Blue in in 8 innings
Endy Rios – 3 for 4, Triple
Alexander Garcia – 3 for 4, Two Home Runs
Jose De La Rosa – 4.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 6 BB, 1 K

The Padres Brown earned a walk-off win in the first of two games against the DSL Astros Brown. Jose De La Rosa started and allowed three runs in 4.2 innings. The right-hander allowed six walks and four hits, but limited the damage to three runs. Reliever Leandro Solano allowed two unearned runs in 3.1 innings of work, holding the Astros Blue to two hits. Alexander Garcia hit a solo home run in the second to put the Padres in front. Hustle brought in their next two runs, as a wild pitch on a punchout brought in their second run, and a single from Clay Winklaar drove in the third run. The Astros scored four times in the fifth and sixth inning combined to take a 5-3 lead, but another homer from Garcia and a double steal tied the game at five apiece. The seven-inning game went into extras, where Walfrent Guzman’s sacrifice fly scored Yorvin Morla to win the game for the Padres Brown.

Game 2 – Padres Brown lost 8-3 vs DSL Astros Blue
Fabian Alcantara – 1 for 4, Home Run
Alexander Garcia – 1 for 2, Run Scored
Sebastian Soriano – 3.1 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 4 K

A five-run inning for the Astros Blue off right-hander Sebastian Soriano put the Padres Brown out of slam range early in the ballgame. Soriano battled through base traffic in the first three innings, but the fourth inning wound up snowballing. After recording the first batter, the following five’s results were as follows: double, double, double, single, home run. Soriano departed after the home run, having allowed a season-high eight hits. The Padres Brown trimmed the deficit to 5-3 over the next two innings, but missed on three at-bats to tie the game in the top of the sixth. This proved to be costly, as reliever Edwyn Hernandez allowed three runs in the bottom of the frame to deliver the knockout punch, as the Padres Brown lost by an 8-3 final.
