San Diego Padres affiliates went 1-4 on Saturday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 7-5 to Round Rock) (23-27 on the season)

Nick Solak– (2-for-3) HR, 3 RBI, Run

Will Wagner– (2-for-4) HR, RBI, Run

Samad Taylor– (1-for-4) Run, BB, K

Marco Gonzalez-4.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 K (77 pitches- 47 strikes)

El Paso got off to an early lead, but crumbled late to lose 7-5 at home. Alek Jacob earned the loss as he surrendered three earned runs by walking four batters in the 9th inning for the Chihuahuas. Jakob only recorded one out in the game and has a 4.95 ERA in the PCL this season. Veteran lefty Marco Gonzalez is grinding away in Triple-A. Gonzalez went 4 2/3 innings on Saturday, allowing two earned runs on five hits. He has a 9.00 ERA so far this season in Triple-A. Kyle Hart pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up a run on the night for El Paso.

Will Wagner played first base and went 2-for-4 on the night with a homer. Samad Taylor batted leadoff and went 1-for-4 in the game. He owns a .933 OPS so far in the PCL and could be of use for the Padres down the line. Nick Solak homered for the fourth time of the season in the loss and was 2-for-3 in the game. El Paso was 1-for-8 in the game with runners in scoring position. The bullpen blew the game, but the offense simply shut down after a five-run third inning.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 7-5 to Frisco) (17-27 on the season)

Romeo Sanabria– (4-for-5) HR, 2B, 2 Runs, 2 RBI, SB

Ethan Salas– (3-for-5) 2B, 2 Runs

Tirso Ornelas– (2-for-5) 2B, RBI, BB

Jhony Brito- 3.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, K (68 pitches- 40 strikes)

The Missions lost a close one 7-5 on the road in Frisco. A four-run seventh inning doomed the Missions as Clark Candiotti only managed one out on the night while coughing up four runs for San Antonio. The Missions did get a decent appearance from Jhony Brito as he made the start in the Texas League. Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, the former Yankee prospect threw 3 1/3 innings of work, allowing three earned runs on six hits. He is getting his feet wet, and everything looks well so far for the Dominican right-handed pitcher. Francis Pena worked a scoreless night as the 25-year-old went 1 1/3 innings, issuing three walks and striking out two batters.

Romeo Sanabria had himself a night as the first baseman went 4-for-5 with a homer, double, and two RBI in the game on Saturday. The left-handed hitter owns a .749 OPS on the season for the Missions. Ethan Salas continues to swing a productive at-bat as the catcher went 3-for-5 on the night with a double. He is hitting .307 on the season with an .866 OPS. Tirso Ornelas went 2-for-5 on the night and is hitting .265 on the season.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 5-0 to Dayton) (21-24 on the season)

Rosman Verdugo- (1-for-4) 2 K

Alex McCoy– (1-for-4) 2B

Lamar King Jr.- (1-for-4) 2 K

Abraham Parra– 5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (79 pitches- 50 strikes)

Kyle McCoy shut down the TinCaps as the lefty made an emergency start for Dayton. McCoy made his debut in the Midwest League and threw five shutout innings, only allowing two hits. Fort Wayne could not figure out the southpaw. Fort Wayne did have a scoring opportunity in the 7th innings as they loaded the bases, but Carlos Rodriguez and Zach Evans both went down on a strikeout to end the threat. Alex McCoy doubled in the loss and was 1-for-4 in the game. The TinCaps only managed three hits in the game and were punchless throughout the contest.

Abraham Parra struggled somewhat with his control, which cost him a few runs on the night. The right-handed pitcher was throwing in the mid 90s but failed to hit his spots consistently, going five innings, allowing three earned runs in the game. He did not pitch horrible but got little help from his offense on the night. Javier Chacon threw two scoreless innings. The lefty, fresh off a promotion from the Cal League, pitched well for Fort Wayne. Chacon owns a 3.38 ERA on the year. Ty Adcock threw a scoreless inning, coughing up two hits in the process. Jefferson Villabona looked dominant at times, pitching the 9th for the TinCaps. He surrendered two runs on a two-out double that was misplayed by the right fielder, but could have easily gotten out of the game without allowing an earned run. Villabona features a high-riding fastball with excellent vertical break. He was throwing in the 94-96 mph range with his heater.

I'd like this amount to

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-2 to Visalia) (24-20 on the season)

Conner Westenburg– (1-for-3)

Jorge Quintana– (1-for-4) RBI

Yoiber Ocopio– (2-for-2) HR, 2 Runs, RBI

Tyler Schmitt- 4.1 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, BB, 2 K (88 pitches- 58 strikes)

The Lake Elsinore Storm were on the road on Saturday and lost a frustrating game in which they committed five errors and struck out 11 times as a team. Tyler Schmitt made the start, but he did not have his best stuff. The 21-year-old 17th-round pick in 2025 surrendered 10 hits and five runs in the game. He did not make it out of the fifth inning and owns a 5.45 ERA on the season. Sean Barnett pitched well on the night as he went two scoreless innings and struck out three batters.

Yoiber Ocopio went 2-f0r-2 in the game and led the Storm with the bats. The catcher entered the game for Ty Harvey and proceeded to put up the best offensive numbers. Jorge Quintana drove in a run and went 1-for-4 in the loss. The 19-year-old infielder owns a .533 OPS so far this season. Conner Westenburg went 1-for-3 and is hitting .309 with an .830 OPS on the season.

ACL Padres (Won 4-2 over ACL Brewers) (8-8 on the season)

Dawson Willis– (2-for-4) 2B

Isaac Ponce– (2-for-3) 2 2b, Run, RBI

Brendan Durfee– (1-fo-3) HR, RBI, Run, BB, K

Lan-Hong Su– 2 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 4 K (35 pitches- 19 strikes)

The ACL Padres earned the win as two early runs were the difference in the game. The Padres got on the board in the first inning as Brendan Durfee homered to right for his first homer of the season. The catcher was playing as the DH and owns a 1.164 OPS so far in 2026 for the ACL Padres. Blake Hunt made the start behind the dish, and the veteran minor leaguer went 1-for-3 and looks healthy. Expect Hunt to be sent to Texas in the next week or so as he begins his official 2026 campaign for El Paso. An oblique injury sidelined Hunt for the first few months of the season. Isaac Ponce doubled twice on Saturday in the win. The 19-year-old catcher was playing first base for the ACL team. Dawson Willis chipped in with a double and was 2-for-4 in the game. Willis is a 22-year-old shortstop out of Oklahoma.

Lan-Hong Su made his second start for the Padres in his pro career and looked solid in two innings of work. The 19-year-old right-handed pitcher out of Taiwan was signed in October of 2025. Six-foot-eight pitcher Cameron Nohos earned the win as he threw three shutout innings and struck out five men on the day. Bernard Jose picked up the save as he threw two shutout innings, picking up the last six outs of the game. Jose owns a 0.79 ERA so far this season for the Padres.
