Padres affiliates went 1-3 on Wednesday.

Let’s jump right into the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 9-2 vs Oklahoma City) (41-48 on the season)

Freddy Fermin – 1-for-4, Single, RBI

Mason McCoy – 2-for-5, Two Singles

Jackson Wolf – 5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 5 K (90 pitches – 60 strikes)

Jackson Wolf pitched five innings in the Chihuahuas’ 9-2 loss on the road. Wolf allowed eight hits, including two home runs, picking up five strikeouts on the night. The left-hander picked up 13 swings and misses on 42 swings (31% whiff rate), but nine of 18 batted ball events registered exit velocities of 95 mph or above against him. Daison Acosta was hit hard in 1.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks. Acosta failed to record a strikeout, allowing a home run. Ty Adcock allowed one home run in 1.1 innings, striking out three. Freddy Fermin went 1-for-4 as the Chihuahuas’ DH, opening his rehab assignment, hitting a single and driving in a run. Mason McCoy had two singles in the game, and Clay Dungan reached base twice in the loss. Blake Hunt walked once and scored a run, and Marcos Castanon went 1-for-4 with a single.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 8-4 vs Midland) (37-46 on the season)

Braedon Karpathios – 1-for-4, Home Run, RBI

Kai Roberts – 1-for-4, Home Run, RBI

Victor Lizarraga – 3 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 3 K (69 pitches – 37 strikes)

Despite four solo home runs, the Missions let the game slip away, going hitless after the third inning. Braedon Karpathios launched his eighth home run of the season, and Tirso Ornelas hit his 12th of the campaign in the first inning. Carson Tucker and Kai Roberts went back-to-back in the third inning, staking the Missions to a 4-2 lead after two and a half. Tucker and Ornelas each drew a walk in the loss, and Jake Cunningham went 0-for-2 with two walks of his own.

Starter Victor Lizarraga lasted three innings, as he threw 69 pitches and allowed six hits. Lizarraga was charged with three runs in the game, facing 17 batters total. The right-hander struck out three while walking three. The amount of batters he faced played a role in his early departure, plus the Missions had a rested bullpen coming off an off day. Harry Gustin worked 2.2 innings of relief, pitching scoreless fourth and fifth innings. The left-hander allowed two baserunners in the sixth, and was within one strike of escaping the jam, but a 3-2 fastball was lined into left center field to score both runners. Garrett Hawkins escaped the inning, striking out three batters in 1.1 innings. Hawkins, however, allowed three runs on three hits. A pair of misplaced changeups did not help his outing, but he still picked up four whiffs. Ryan Och threw a scoreless inning in his return to the Missions, walking one.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 14-1 vs West Michigan) (34-49 on the season)

Jack Costello – 1-for-4, Home Run, RBI

Justin DeCriscio – 1-for-3, Double, Walk

Winyer Chourio – 2.2 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 4 BB, 2 K (58 pitches – 32 strikes)

Fort Wayne was blown out in the second game of the Battle of the Caps. Winyer Chourio started for the TinCaps, but walked four in 2.2 innings. Chourio allowed five runs on four hits, recording just two strikeouts against the Brewers affiliate. Javier Chacon allowed six runs (four earned) in 2.1 innings of work, allowing two home runs. Will Koger was charged with three runs in two innings, and Nick Falter pitched a scoreless ninth. Jack Costello drove in the lone Fort Wayne run on his 10th home run of the season, tying his career high from 2025. Justin DeCriscio had a double in the game, reaching base twice in the loss. Kasen Wells reached base on a single, and Zach Evans drew a walk in the game. The TinCaps went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position in the loss.

I'd like this amount to

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 6-4 in 10 innings vs Rancho Cucamonga) (44-39 on the season)

Qrey Lott – 3-for-3, Two Doubles, Two RBI

Yimy Tovar – 1-for-4, Triple, Walk, RBI

Carlos Medina – 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K (67 pitches – 46 strikes)

Lake Elsinore picked up an extra-inning win over Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday. Carlos Medina pitched five innings of one-run baseball, his longest start since May 31. Medina struck out four without issuing a walk. Jeferson Villabona allowed a two-run home run in one inning of relief. Brandon Langley and Jordan Valenzuela each threw a scoreless inning, with Langley picking up one strikeout. Sean Barnett came on in the ninth, but a hit batter and two wild pitches set up a game-tying sac fly.

The Storm scored first thanks to an RBI double from Qrey Lott in the third inning. Lott went a perfect 3-for-3 on the evening, but we’ll come back to that later. Jose Verdugo hit his third triple of the season in the fourth inning, scoring Yoiber Ocopio. Yimy Tovar hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning, and Tovar scored on an RBI single from Jorge Quintana. With the game tied at four in the tenth, Qrey Lott’s one-out double scored George Bilecki from third, giving the Storm a 5-4 lead. Yimy Tovar reached base to put two runners on, and Quintana hit into a forceout to score Lott for the insurance run. Quintana also stole three bases in the game. Sean Barnett returned to the mound in the bottom of the tenth, striking out two of three batters in the inning to seal the Storm’s win.
