San Diego Padres affiliates went 3-4 on Thursday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 12-7 vs Las Vegas) (24-36 on the season)

Eguy Rosario – (4-for-5) RBI

Sean Reynolds – 1.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 K (43 pitches, 27 strikes)

The Chihuahuas took a 7-7 game into the eighth inning, where an implosion by their pitching staff paved the way to a 12-7 loss. The Chihuahuas’ offense had a strong performance, putting up seven runs on 10 hits, with six walks sprinkled in there. Eguy Rosario was the offensive star of the game, recording four hits and an RBI. Brett Sullivan and Cal Mitchell would also homer in the game as they look for MLB call-ups as well.

Sean Reynolds “opened” the game for the Chihuahuas, who played in their “El Paso Margaritas” jerseys tonight. Reynolds had a scoreless first but labored in the second, serving up four runs. Luke Westphal made his first AAA outing since 2022 in this game, tossing 3.1 innings of three-run baseball. However, Las Vegas would strike hardest against Daniel Camarena, pushing across five runs against the left-hander through the eighth and ninth innings. The only El Paso pitcher to record a scoreless outing was Logan Gillaspie, who tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in relief of Reynolds.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 6-5 vs Midland) (23-30 on the season)

Clay Dungan – (1-for-4) 2 Runs

Michael De La Cruz – (3-for-5) RBI Single

Austin Krob – 4.2 IP, 8 H, 6 R (5 ER), 4 BB, 2 K (89 pitches, 55 strikes)

Austin Krob had his most difficult start of the season for the Missions, as the RockHounds tagged the southpaw for six runs across 4.2 innings. Krob was not as efficient as he had been in previous starts, allowing four walks and laboring through the third and fourth innings. Krob also walked a season-high four batters, matching his walk total from May. It was a bump in the road for the 24-year-old southpaw in his first full season at AA.

The Missions offense was scrappy in the game, reaching base through singles and walks. Catcher Michael De La Cruz had a three-hit effort, and outfielder Clay Dungan scored twice. Ray-Patrick Didder was the only other position player to record a hit, with all five hits being singles. Marcos Castanon would hit a sacrifice fly in the game, giving him 16 RBI on the season.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 5-1 vs Peoria) (23-31 on the season)

Ethan Salas – (1-for-2) RBI, Walk

Jay Beshears – (1-for-4) Single

Fernando Sanchez – 3.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 4 K (79 pitches, 49 strikes)

The TinCaps offense was shut down for most of the game by Peoria pitching, as the TinCaps would record only two singles in this game. Ethan Salas would record the only RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Jay Beshears would record the team’s only other hit, as the offense only saw seven baserunners all game.

Fernando Sanchez made his High-A debut and had a rough outing, surrendering four runs on six hits across 3.1 innings. He recorded four strikeouts but walked three batters as well. It was the roughest outing of the year for the 23-year-old southpaw, but his track record at A-Ball shows that he can find his form and go on a solid stretch. The TinCaps relief corps did their job, holding Peoria to one run across 5.2 innings, but the Chiefs’ pitching was simply dominant on this night.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 5-1 vs Inland Empire) (27-25 on the season)

JD Gonzalez – (1-for-4) RBI Double

Jose Sanabria – (2-for-4) 2 RBI

Sam Whiting – 5 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K (89 pitches, 61 strikes)

The Storm rode a strong outing by Sam Whiting to a 5-1 win over the 66ers. Whiting pitched five solid innings, holding the 66ers to one run on seven hits, striking out four. The former 16th-rounder now has a 3.00 ERA across 30 innings in ten starts, and his last four starts have seen the right-hander pitch deeper into games. Left-hander Javier Chacon tossed three scoreless innings in relief, his second consecutive scoreless outing.

The Storm offense was led by Jose Sanabria’s multi-hit, two-RBI day. The infielder recorded two RBI base hits, including an RBI double. Jacob Campbell slugged his first homer of the season in the sixth inning, a two-run home run. Padres No. 12 prospect JD Gonzalez recorded an RBI double of his own in the game, his 15th RBI of the season.

ACL Padres (Lost 11-1 vs ACL Giants) (15-10 on the season)

Kaden Hollow – (1-for-3) Walk

B.Y. Choi – (2-for-3)

Jesus Lopez – 4 H, 3 R (2 ER), 0 BB, 3 K

The ACL Padres were blown out by the ACL Giants by a final score of 11-0. The Padres’ pitching staff struggled in the game, and the defense’s four errors did not help. Starter Jesus Lopez struggled, allowing three runs on four hits and an error, walking nobody and striking out three. Left-hander Adler Cecil had the least efficient inning of the game, surrendering four runs in an inning of work.

The offense was mostly stymied in the game, recording no runs on six hits through the first six innings. BY Choi would record two hits in three at-bats, L.J Jones homered in the seventh to break the shutout, and Kaden Hollow went 1-for-3 with a walk in the game.

DSL Padres Gold (Won 31-2 vs DSL LAD Bautista) (1-1 on the season)

Eduarlin Tejeda – (4-for-8) Double, 4 RBI

Walfrent Guzman – (1-for-2) Grand Slam

Luis Maracara – 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 3 K

The DSL Padres Gold team had a borderline historic game, scoring 31 runs in nine innings against the DSL Dodgers. The offense did not have a single starter and reserve player go hitless in the game, with the highlights being Eduarlin Tejeda’s 4-for-8 day and Walfrent Guzman’s ninth-inning grand slam. As a whole, the team walked 15 times and went 17-for-39 with runners in scoring position.

16-year-old Luis Maracara made his DSL and pro debut, tossing four innings of one-hit, one-run baseball. He would record three strikeouts and three walks apiece, and he would uncork three wild pitches as well. For a first start in the pros, Maracara performed admirably. Jordan Valenzuela would turn in four innings of one-run ball as well, and Angel Sanchez made his pro debut with a scoreless ninth inning.

DSL Padres Brown (Won 5-1 vs DSL Astros Blue) (1-0 on the season)

Yorvin Mora – (1-for-2) Walk, Run Scored

Jesmaylin Arias – (1-for-2) Walk, RBI

Jimmy Reyes – 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

A three-run first inning would pave the way for a Padres victory. The Padres would capitalize on some wildness from Astros starter David Landeta. A wild pitch and passed ball would drive in two of their three first-inning runs. Jesmaylin Arias would record an RBI base hit, as would Fabian Alcantara.

On the mound, Jimmy Reyes delivered a strong outing in his season debut, pitching four innings of one-run baseball. It was a quality outing to start the season, and relievers Adrian Pena and Johna Minaya tossed three scoreless innings to close out the win.
