Gibran Lajud Set To Make History On Friday Night

Gibran Lajud is living the best moment of his young career, as the Xolos have not allowed a goal this season after five games.
The Mexican goalkeeper has played an immense role in this achievement as he has made some amazing saves throughout the Clausura 2018 tournament.
Lajud recently received a call-up to the Mexico national team and is now just minutes away from making history in the Liga MX.
The 24-year-old keeper hasn’t allowed a goal in 450 minutes to start off the Clausura 2018. He is now just 28 minutes from breaking the record for the most minutes without conceding a goal to start off a season since the short tournament format began in 1996.
This record is currently held by Cruz Azul goalkeeper Jose de Jesus Corona, who achieved this mark in the Clausura 2015.
Lajud still has a bit to go before breaking the record for most minutes overall with a clean sheet, held by HernanCristante, with 772 minutes back in the Apertura 2008. But he could break Corona’s record this Friday and add 90 more minutes to his tally.
Queretaro has been one of the more unimpressive teams in the Clausura 2018 with just four points from the first five games.
Los Gallos do have some exciting attacking players, like Camilo Sanvezzo and Edson Puch, but have only scored two goals so far. Along with Lajud, the defense and midfield have also been fantastic and deserve credit for this record as well. The Xolos should be able to get a win this Friday and Gibran Lajud should be writing his name into the history books.
