Padres affiliates went 0-4 on Wednesday.

Without further ado, let’s get into the night’s action.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 23-7 vs Round Rock) (22-25 on the season)

Clay Dungan – 3-for-5, Double, Single, Two RBI

Samad Taylor – 2-for-5, Double, Two Runs Scored

Fernando Sanchez – 2 IP, 3 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 0 K (49 pitches – 25 strikes)

El Paso’s Wednesday matinee ended in a football score, but not in favor of the Chihuahuas. Fernando Sanchez lasted just two innings, allowing six earned runs. The left-hander allowed two singles, two walks, and a hit batter with one out in the second inning, but the big swing came on an 0-1 pitch to Cameron Cauley. Sanchez left a slider out over the heart of the plate, and the pitch landed 405 feet away beyond the left field wall. Sanchez lasted just two innings, and Miguel Cienfuegos threw three innings of two-run ball, striking out three but getting charged with the loss. Michael Flynn, in his Chihuahuas debut, allowed five runs (three earned) in one inning of work, striking out one batter. Kyle Hart walked three in one inning, but surrendered just one run. Misael Tamarez threw a scoreless eighth, but his command disappeared in the ninth. Tamarez allowed one run on three walks and a hit batter, and El Paso turned to Clay Dungan down by eight. Dungan allowed five hits and five earned runs, while all three inherited runners came in to score as well.

The Chihuahuas’ lineup scored seven runs in the first two innings, but nothing more. El Paso pounced on starter Jose Corniell, as Samad Taylor reached on a leadoff double before three straight singles gave the Chihuahuas a 1-0 lead. Nick Solak hit into a double play, but with the bases loaded and no outs, Clay Dungan scored for another run. A five-spot in the second accounted for most of the team’s scoring. El Paso hit five straight singles to open the inning, with Taylor, Dungan, and Victor Duarte driving in a run apiece. Pablo Reyes hit into a run-scoring forceout, tying the game at six. After another hit by Jase Bowen, Nick Solak grounded out to score the seventh and final run for the Chihuahuas. El Paso could not get much of anything going against the Round Rock bullpen, mustering just two hits and three walks in 7.1 innings.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 5-1 vs Frisco) (15-26 on the season)

Kai Murphy – 2-for-4, Home Run

Ryan Jackson – 1-for-3, Double

Jagger Haynes – 5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 5 K (82 pitches – 53 strikes)

The Missions’ offense was unable to replicate their Tuesday night explosion, as they were held to one run on four hits in a loss to Frisco. Kai Murphy drove in the team’s only run with a solo home run in the third inning. Murphy had two base hits against Frisc and also stole a base. Ryan Jackson hit a double as part of a 1-for-3 effort. Albert Fabian hit a single in four at-bats, but did not score. Braedon Karpathios drew the lone walk of the day for San Antonio, but was caught attempting to steal second base in the seventh inning.

Jagger Haynes pitched five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. Haynes’ improved command allowed him to pitch into the fifth inning, but he allowed two home runs. Home runs have been an issue for Haynes over the past two seasons, and he has allowed five in 39.2 innings this season. The volume from Haynes in terms of innings pitched in 2026 has been an improvement, and he currently sports a 1.25 groundout-to-airout ratio, the highest of his career. Francis Pena allowed one run in two innings, striking out four batters. Clark Canditotti made his second Missions outing, striking out one batter in a scoreless eighth.

I'd like this amount to

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 22-8 vs Dayton) (19-22 on the season)

Alex McCoy – 2-for-4, Home Run

Lamar King Jr – 1-for-5, Three-Run Home Run

Maikel Miralles – 1.2 IP, 2 H, 8 R (7 ER), 5 BB, 0 K (54 pitches – 24 strikes)

After two gutsy starts to open the month, Maikel Miralles endured the worst start of his career, going solely by the numbers. The right-hander allowed eight runs, seven of which were earned, in 1.2 innings. Miralles walked five batters, tying a career-high. The first five batters MIralles faced reached safely, with Carter Graham blasting a grand slam on a 1-0 fastball. The five runs in the first inning were not enough to pull MIralles, as he promptly picked up three outs. Miralles allowed a one-out home run to Carlos Sanchez on a hanging changeup; two walks and a flyout later, Miralles’ day was done. Kleiber Olmedo allowed both inherited runners to score and went on to pitch 2.1 innings. Olmedo did not have a good day at the office either, as he was charged with five earned runs, all coming in the second inning. Ty Adcock, whose rehab assignment was moved to Fort Wayne, allowed a two-run home run in one inning of work. Javier Chacon allowed two runs in two innings, and Jeferson Villabona’s return to the TinCaps saw him surrender four runs in one inning of work. Having used four relievers, Fort Wayne turned to infielder Jonathan Vastine in the ninth; the former Vanderbilt Commodore allowed one run on two hits, striking out one batter.

The TinCaps’ lineup faced a steep uphill battle, but did not get on the board until the fourth. Alex McCoy launched a solo home run off the batter’s eye to open the fourth, his third home run in six games. Justin DeCriscio hit his second home run as a TinCap to lead off the fifth, taking a 74-mph curveball out to left field. DeCriscio is now 6-for-his-last-13, with two home runs and four RBI in his last three games. Jake Cunningham and Jack Costello hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the fifth to trim the deficit to 15-4, with an RBI single from Oswaldo Linares bringing the home team to within ten. Lamar King Jr had the TinCaps’ third homer of the game, as he launched a three-run home run to left field for his first career homer at Parkview Field. Even so, the TinCaps’ offense fell squarely into the “Chris Paul” tier. Fort Wayne’s pitching staff will need a strong effort from Carson Montgomery to get back in the win column, as a 33-10 cumulative score over the first two games is far from ideal.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-3 vs Visalia) (23-18 on the season)

Truitt Madonna – 3-for-4, RBI Single

Jose Verdugo – 2-for-3, Home Run, Double, RBI

Jesus A. Castro – 4 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K (80 pitches – 52 strikes)

Jesus A. Castro continued his strong run of form, as he struck out six batters in four innings. Castro generated 12 whiffs in his start, working his way out of major jams in the first and third innings. The third-inning escape was worth noting, as with the bases loaded and one out, Castro and Truitt Madonna executed the play at home on a comebacker to the mound. Castro kept his cool through the jam, retiring Ivan Luciano to end the inning. Castro’s May has been one of the best in the system, as he has struck out 22 batters in 15.1 innings, walking just three. Joseph Herrera failed to retire a batter in the fifth, walking two and allowing two hits. Herrera also uncorked two wild pitches. Carson Swilling allowed two inherited runners to score, striking out two to end the inning. Swilling threw a scoreless sixth, and Cal Riehl allowed two unearned runs in one inning of work. Daichi Moriki issued a leadoff walk in the eighth, but generated a double play and a groundout to end the inning.

The Storm’s lineup picked up eight hits in the loss, striking out 14. Jose Verdugo hit his second home run of the season. The 5-foot-7 infielder also doubled in the game, showcasing a fast and violent swing. Truitt Madonna picked up three hits in the ballgame, driving in a run with an RBI single. Madonna has shown a more selective approach at the plate this month, and he now has a .397 on-base percentage in 52 at-bats. Ryan Wideman went 1-for-5 with a single, stealing his 30th base of the season. Wideman is now second in the minor leagues as a whole in stolen bases, just trailing Braves 2025 first-rounder Tate Southisene. Qrey Lott doubled and scored a run, while Kerrington Cross hit a pinch-hit single in the ninth. Cross has also played incredibly well in May, as in 39 at-bats, the former Cincinnati Bearcat is slashing .419/.549/.667 with six extra-base hits. Cross has also struck out less than he has walked (11 walks, 10 strikeouts).
