Padres affiliates ended the week with a 3-1 finish.

Here is our daily recap of games played.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 4-3 vs Albuquerque) (15-18 on the season)

Sung-Mun Song – 1-for-4, Home Run

Will Wagner – 1-for-2, Double, Walk, Run Scored

Jackson Wolf – 4.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 1 K (87 pitches – 54 strikes)

Jackson Wolf posted his longest start of the season so far, pitching into the fifth inning against the Isotopes. Wolf allowed three runs on five hits, striking out just one. The slinging southpaw picked up nine of 14 outs on ground balls, and used his nifty pickoff move to retire Zac Veen on the bases. Wolf and catcher Rodolfo Duran fared well to limit the Isotopes’ running game, as Albuquerque runners went 1-for-3 on stolen base attempts. Garrett Hawkins threw 1.1 innings in relief, allowing no runs. The right-hander averaged a season-low 92.1 mph on his fastball, topping out at 93.2 mph. Despite this, Hawkins got 16 inches of iVB on the heater at over 5,000 feet above sea level. Ethan Routzahn threw a scoreless seventh inning, and David Morgan came on for the eighth, Morgan’s recent lack of command reared its head once more, as he walked two and surrendered two hits, but only coughed up one run in an inning of work.

Sung-Mun Song went deep for the first time since hurting his oblique back in Spring Training. Song’s seventh-inning home run was his first regular season home run in the US, and two of his three batted balls came off the bat over 94 mph. Will Wagner had a double in four plate appearances, also drawing a walk and getting hit by a pitch. Samad Taylor went 1-for-4 with an RBI single, with two barrels on three balls in play. Rodolfo Duran went 1-for-4 with an RBI single as well, as the Chihuahuas were held to one extra-base hit all game. Pablo Reyes drew two walks in the loss.

San Antonio Missions (Won 8-7 vs Tulsa) (7-20 on the season)

Leandro Cedeno – 2-for-5, Home Run, Three RBI

Tirso Ornelas – 2-for-5, Home Run, Double, Three RBI

Eric Yost – 4 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 7 K (69 pitches – 40 strikes)

Right-hander Eric Yost bounced back from his first start against Tulsa to pitch four innings of one-run baseball. Yost did not allow a hit to the Drillers, walking three batters. The walks allowed the Drillers to score a run in the third thanks to a bases-loaded forceout. Yost was able to keep the damage at that, punching out seven batters in his start. The seven strikeouts were a season-high for the right-hander, who is settling into his rotation spot just fine. The Missions’ bullpen struggled after a strong game on Saturday; Omar Cruz allowed two home runs and three earned runs in 1.2 innings. Francis Pena’s command evaporated, as he faced three batters and issued two walks, plunking a batter. Harry Gustin ended the threat in the sixth, but allowed three runs (two earned) in an inning of work. A fielding error by Romeo Sanabria allowed the tying run to score. Johan Moreno ended the seventh, and went on to close out the game with scoreless eighth and ninth innings.

For once, Ethan Salas was not the headliner in terms of production, but the Missions’ catcher drew two walks and stole a base. Ryan Jackson drew two walks, scoring one run out of the two-hole. The Missions’ three through six hitters did the bulk of the damage. Leandro Cedeno slugged a three-run home run in the fourth, his third of the series. Romeo Sanabria had two singles, drew a walk, and scored a run in the game. The Missions’ first baseman also swiped his first base of the season. Tirso Ornelas had two extra-base hits, including a solo home run in the second inning. Ornelas drove in three runs, including the game-deciding run on an eighth inning double, scoring pinch-runner Kai Roberts. Braedon Karpathios had two singles and an RBI in the game, and he now has three consecutive multi-hit games. San Antonio went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position, but made their chances count.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 11-10 vs South Bend) (12-15 on the season)

Lamar King Jr – 2-for-4, Home Run, Four RBI

Carlos E. Rodriguez – 2-for-4, Home Run, Three RBI

Abraham Parra – 2.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 2 K (61 pitches – 31 strikes)

Fort Wayne won their fifth game in a row on Sunday, with a wild back and forth affair that ended 11-10. The TinCaps did not let the foot off the gas at the plate, scoring five in the first inning. Lamar King Jr launched a two-run home run in the first, and Carlos E. Rodriguez pulled the “I’ll do you one better” with a three-run home run to right field. Tied at five in the fourth inning, Rosman Verdugo hit his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to give the TinCaps a 7-5 lead. Jake Cunningham had an RBI double and a solo home run in the game, and he now leads the team in home runs with six. Kasen Wells hit a single and a walk in the game, scoring three runs from the top of the order.

Abraham Parra had his shortest start of the season, pitching 2.1 innings of five-run baseball. South Bend did not chase as much as his previous adversaries, waiting out Parra’s pitches and working deep counts. Parra allowed three run-scoring extra-base hits in the third, ending his outing. Clark Candiotti pitched one inning, allowing two runs and striking out one. Candiotti was one of five relievers used by Jonathan Mathews in the winning effort. CJ Widger walked three and allowed one run in 1.1 innings of relief, and Luis German allowed two runs on four hits while recording just one out. Igor Gil worked three solid and scoreless innings of relief, striking out three. The Maracay, Venezuela native now has a 2.19 ERA on the season with a 29.6% strikeout rate. Clay Edmondson worked a scoreless ninth to earn his fifth save of the season, sealing the TinCaps’ longest winning streak in a calendar year.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 12-10 in 10 innings vs Ontario) (17-10 on the season)

Qrey Lott – 5-for-5, Two Home Runs, Six RBI

Luke Cantwell – 4-for-5, Double, RBI, Two Runs Scored

Carlos Medina – 3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K (54 pitches – 37 strikes)

Lake Elsinore rode Qrey Lott’s career-best performance to a 12-10 win in extra innings over Ontario. Lake Elsinore has now taken six of nine games played against Ontario this season, with all nine coming on the road. Speaking of Qrey Lott, the Storm’s left fielder went 5-for-5 with two home runs, three singles, and six RBI. Lott’s biggest swing of the afternoon was a two-run blast in the ninth inning, giving the Storm a 9-8 lead at the time. Luke Cantwell had four hits and an RBI, scoring two runs. Jorge Quintana had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. The Storm’s shortstop also walked twice and scored two runs. George Bilecki had three base hits in the game, driving in two runs as well. Kerrington Cross drew three walks, scoring a run. Justin DeCriscio had a home run of his own, scoring two runs. Lake Elsinore hit .400 with runners in scoring position (8-for-20).

Carlos Medina started for the Storm, and the right-hander threw three innings of two-run ball. Medina struck out four, picking up a double play in the third as well. The right-hander got seven whiffs on the day to lead the Storm’s staff. Left-hander Joseph Herrera allowed two runs in two innings, striking out two. Nick Falter allowed one run in two innings, breaking a 7.2 inning scoreless streak entering the game. Falter was one of the team’s best relievers in April, and has a 15 to 5 K to BB ratio this season. Vicarte Domingo allowed a three-run home run in the eighth, and was charged with one more run in the ninth, sending the game to extras. With closer Ethan Long presumably unavailable, Rordy Mejia pitched the tenth inning. Mejia allowed the ghost runner to score, but nothing more, earning his first Lake Elsinore save.
