San Diego Padres affiliates went 1-5 on Friday.

Here is a recap of the dayā€™s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 12-7 vs Albuquerque) (35-50 on the season)
Matthew Batten – (2-for-5) Two Runs Scored
Nate Mondou – (2-for-5) Run Scored
Kevin Kopps – 2.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 2 K (51 pitches, 27 strikes)

Entering the sixth inning with a 4-3 lead, the Chihuahuasā€™ bullpen allowed nine runs over the final four innings. Luke Westphal pitched three innings to start for the Chihuahuas, striking out five batters and allowing one run. Lake Bachar was dealt the loss, as the right-hander allowed five runs in 0.2 innings, breaking a stretch where he had allowed one run in his last 9.2 innings. Of the four El Paso relievers who appeared in the game, Kevin Kopps had the most efficient outing, allowing a lone run across 2.1 innings.

Xander Bogaerts was 0-for-3 in his second game rehabbing while playing second base. Nate Mondou and Matthew Batten each went 2-for-5, while Addison Kopack recorded an RBI single in his first career Triple-A plate appearance. Tirso Ornelas drove in two runs in the game, bringing his season total to 50 RBI. The Chihuahuas went 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position in the loss.

San Antonio Missions (Won 4-2 vs Corpus Christi) (40-39 on the season)
Marcos Castanon – (2-for-4) Two-Run Home Run
Brandon Valenzuela – (1-for-4) RBI Single
Jared Kollar – 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 1 K (66 pitches, 46 strikes)

In a tightly contested affair, San Antonio squeezed across two unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win 4-2. Jared Kollar continued his strong season, tossing five innings of two-run baseball on just 66 pitches. While the right-hander only recorded one strikeout, he induced over half of his outs on the ground (eight groundouts total). Kollar has pitched to a 1.55 ERA and 0.82 WHIP across his last three starts.

Marcos Castanon hit his sixth homer of the season in the fourth inning to give San Antonio a 2-0 lead. After the Hooks tied the game, catcher Michael De La Cruz walked with the bases loaded to give the Missions the lead, and Brandon Valenzuela would tack on another run with an RBI single, his 36th of the season. The Missions had three hits, with runners in scoring position and 11 opportunities in the win.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 9-3 vs Lansing) (33-47 on the season)
Homer Bush Jr – (1-for-5)
Jay Beshears – (1-for-4) Double
Henry Baez – 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R (0 ER), 0 BB, 10 K (87 pitches, 62 strikes)

The resurgence of Henry Baez continues, as the right-hander struck out a season-high ten batters. Baez has shown improved command across his last three starts, having walked only one batter across 17 innings. The only blemishes on Baezā€™s final line came in the first inning, as a throwing error by Romeo Sanabria allowed two runs to score. Otherwise, Baez limited the baserunners in a strong start.

Griffin Doersching drove in two runs on a sacrifice fly and an RBI bases-loaded walk, his 26th and 27th RBI of the season. Nerwilian Cedeno also recorded an RBI walk in the ninth, his 17th RBI of the year. Homer Bush Jr recorded a single in the game but was caught stealing for only the eighth time this season.J ay Beshears doubled in the game, and Devin Ortiz scored two runs in the game as the team went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

I'd like this amount to

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-5 vs Inland Empire) (39-39 on the season)
Leodalis De Vries – (3-for-4) Two Home Runs, Four Runs Scored
Rosman Verdugo – (2-for-3) RBI Single
Miguel Mendez – 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 8 K (84 pitches, 57 strikes)

Starter Ian Koenig was torched for five runs in the second inning as the Storm fell into a deficit they couldnā€™t overcome. Koenig allowed five runs on four hits, striking out three in that span. Reliever Miguel Mendez, who has been a starter most of the season, fired six innings of one-run baseball in relief of Koenig, striking out a season-high eight batters. Mendez did his job in long relief, holding the deficit to an amount that could be overcome.

The big story offensively was the performance of Leodalis De Vries. The 17-year-old shortstop had his first career multi-homer game, homering once from the left and right side of the plate. Moments such as this display the potential the Padres see in the young shortstop. Rosman Verdugo drove in a run on a sac fly, and Chase Valentine drove in another on an RBI single.

ACL Padres: No Game

DSL Padres Gold (Lost 8-3 vs DSL Cubs Red in Game 1)
Alcides Hernandez – (1-for-3) Two RBI
Frailyn Severino – (1-for-3) Double, Run Scored
Jose De La Rosa – 3.1 IP, 2 H. 4 R, 5 BB, 6 K

In the first of two games, the Padres Gold scored three runs in the first three innings, but their pitching staff allowed eight unanswered runs en route to an 8-3 loss. Jose De La Rosa started for the Padres, and while he only allowed two hits, five walks on his ledger led to four Cubs runs. Reliever Anderson Ortiz allowed three runs in 1.2 innings, striking out three.

Alcides Hernandez was the main run-producer for the Padres, driving in two runs on an RBI single and RBI groundout. Frailyn Severino had the teamā€™s lone extra-base hit with a double, and Yoiber Ocopio was the only other member of the lineup to reach on a hit.

(Lost 2-1 in Game 2) (11-13 on the season)
Gustavo Marquez – (0-for-1) Sac Fly, RBI
Moises Valdez – (1-for-3) Double
Alexander Agramonte – 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K

In a well-pitched game, the Padres Goldā€™s offense couldnā€™t muster much of anything, earning only four baserunners all game. Moises Valdez hit a double while three other batters notched singles. Gustavo Marquez drove in the teamā€™s lone run on a sacrifice fly, and the team went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position in the loss.

Starter Alexander Agramonte pitched a quality game, striking out four in five innings of work, displaying command of his arsenal. The right-hander only walked two and got 33% of his outs on the ground.
