Chargers News: Bolts Sign OL Brett Boyko, Waive OL Zeth Ramsay

The San Diego Chargers have made another move to bolster their offensive line by signing Brett Boyko away from the Philadelphia Eagles who released him last week. The team had huge needs last season on the offensive line and it is very nice to see Tom Telesco and the Chargers front office make moves to improve the well-being of Philip Rivers.

Boyko was a four-year starter at UNLV. He went undrafted out of college and was signed by the Eagles to their practice squad. He spent the whole 2015 season on their practice squad without getting any game action. The Canadian national was drafted in the second round in the Canadian Football League draft. He chose to pursue his NFL dreams instead.

The Chargers are building their squad presently and have solidified the line in case of injuries. Orlando Franklin, D.J. Fluker, Chris Watt and King Dunlap were all injured last year and the team needs bodies just in case of injury. Boyko will probably just provide depth but if an injury happens, he could be given the opportunity to play.

Zeth Ramsay was released to make room for Boyko. The OL out of Mesa State was a long-shot to make the team anyways. Expect the Chargers to make move similar moves as other teams are thinning out their rosters for the 2016 season.
