The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 1-2 today.

Here is a brief recap of today’s action.

Amarillo Sod Poodles Lost 4-1

Despite the return of Jacob Nix, the Sod Poodles offense couldn’t solve the Midland pitching and have their backs against the walls. Nix, in his first start with Amarillo, tossed six innings of two-run ball while striking out six opposing batters. If everything goes well, he could make his return to San Diego for a brief cameo. Edward Olivares hit a solo home run to give Amarillo their lone run while Taylor Trammell hit a ringing triple that nearly cleared the fence.

Taylor Trammell: 1-4, 3B, BB, 2 K

Edward Olivares: 1-3, HR, RBI, Run Scored, BB, K

Taylor Kohlwey: 1-3, BB

Jacob Nix: 6 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K (90 pitches-56 strikes) Loss

Evan Miller: 1.1 IP, K (13 pitches-10 strikes)

Lake Elsinore Storm Won 7-6

An eighth-inning infield single by Gabriel Arias tied the game up at six runs, and Tirso Ornelas‘ tenth inning sacrifice fly helped Lake Elsinore walk-off as winners as they take a two-games-to-none series lead over the Quakes. Starter Reiss Knehr pitched five innings and allowed two runs while the bullpen took care of the rest to keep the Storm in the game. Luis Campusano went 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Eguy Rosario had three hits and an RBI.

Tri-City Dust Devils Lost 5-1

After scoring four runs in yesterday’s victory, Tri-City only picked up one in a loss that evened the series. Jack Stronach put the Dust Devils in the lead with an RBI single in the first inning that scored Reinaldo Ilarraza, but it was the only run they would score. Starlin Cordero caught a sudden case of the yips as he walked two batters and allowed three runs by throwing three wild pitches to take the loss.
