Xolos Femenil Fall To Pachuca, But Have Solid Effort Away From Home
Xolos Femenil remained winless in the Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2018 after their 1-0 loss to Pachuca away from home on Monday.
Andrea Rodebaugh’s team did have a very solid performance as Pachuca had to score a screamer of a goal to come away with the three points.
The lone goal of the game came in the 42nd minute when Lizbeth Angeles would score what would be the winning goal for Las Tuzas. Xolos’ goalkeeper Itzel Gonzalez saved a shot, but the ball would go up in the air, which allowed Angeles to perform a stunning bicycle kick that would make it a 1-0 result.
There were a few lopsided results in the Liga MX Femenil this past weekend, like Monterrey defeating Necaxa 8-0, and this had potential to be another one. But the young Xolos’ side played very well against Pachuca, who is known to be one of the better teams in Mexican women’s soccer.
Layzha Garcia and Valentina Oviedo, who are both just 15 years old, started the game and held their own. Garcia was replaced by the experienced Cristina Juarez in the 50th minute while Oviedo was replaced by another 15-year-old player, Ana Jimenez, in the 72nd minute. Pachuca also had some young players in their lineup, but was led by the experience of players like Monica Ocampo and the goalscorer, Lizbeth Angeles.

Xolos Femenil now falls to last in Group 1 of the Liga MX Femenil while Toluca and Club America hold the top two places. The Xoloitzcuintles are now the last-place team overall in the Liga MX Femenil, with just a point from a tie and three losses after four games. The losses have come consecutively and it will not get any easier next week as Club Tijuana will host Club America at the Estadio Caliente.
