Xolos Femenil End Clausura 2018 Season Winless at Home
The Xolos women’s team played its last game at the Estadio Caliente in the Clausura 2018 Liga MX Femenil season on Monday.
The Xoloitzcuintles hosted Cruz Azul at the Mictlan in a game that was expected to be a hard-fought matchup.
The game did not turn out to be as entertaining as expected as it ended in a 0-0 tie that lacked action. The first half was almost unbearable as neither team took risks and there was little to no scoring chances in the first 45 minutes.
Andrea Rodebaugh’s team seemed a bit more motivated in the second half and really tried to push for a late-winner. Rosa Aguiar was one of the more exciting players on the pitch with a few clear chances for Xolos Femenil towards the latter half of the match. Aguiar hit the post with a powerful strike in the 59th minute and also had another opportunity later on in the clash.
The 22-year-old midfielder, and every other Xolos’ player on the field, failed to score and the game ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw. The game was quite uneventful and it was shocking that the Xolos women’s team failed to win a game at the Estadio Caliente this season.
There is only one game left for the Xoloitzcuintles in the Clausura 2018 with no hopes of a playoff spot, but still with the possibility to finish as the 11th-best team in the league.
Xolos Femenil’s lone win of the season was a 1-0 win against Monarcas Morelia away from home. Andrea Rodebaugh’s side will try to close out the tournament strong away from home against Veracruz in Week 14 of the Liga MX Femenil.
Xolos’ Lineup: Itzel Gonzalez, Ana Lara, Stephanie Rodriguez, Patricia Gutierrez, Ericka Soto, Valentina Oviedo (93’ Melissa Zuniga), Inglis Hernandez, Samantha Gonzalez, Rosa Aguiar, Cinthia Huerta (68’ Cristina Juarez), Sheila Pulido (79’ Evelyn Fernandez)
