Xolos Femenil 2019 Clausura: Club Tijuana Ladies Play First Of Three Consecutive Away Games
Game: Veracruz vs Xolos Femenil
When: Monday, Jan.14, 2019
Where: Estadio Luis “Pirata” Fuente, Veracruz, Mexico
Time: 3:00 P.M. PST
This Monday, Jan. 14, Xolos Femenil will play Veracruz’s women’s team at the Estadio Luis “Pirata” Fuente in a match in Week 2 of the Liga MX Femenil 2019 Clausura.
The Club Tijuana ladies lost 2-0 to Pumas UNAM in the season-opener at the Estadio Caliente and will now play three consecutive games on the road.
This should be a very difficult task for the Xolos women’s team, but they will start with a manageable opponent in Veracruz. The Club Tijuana ladies did have some good moments in that first game against Pumas UNAM and manager Gerardo Romo seems motivated to progress with the team.
Romo has been working in Mexican soccer for a while now and was previously coaching a women’s team in Guadalajara before joining Club Tijuana. Some of the players that stood out in the first game include Yesenia Uriarte and Carolina Zepeda, who just joined the border city team.
Karen Maprigat was also creative in the attack and Leyla Zapata was the best defender in that game with an amazing goal-line clearance. Xolos Femenil still has a lot of room for improvement and has promising players, but could definitely struggle on the road.
Veracruz started off the Liga MX Femenil season with a 1-1 draw against Puebla away from home and made some transfers in the offseason to try and improve. Las Tiburonas most talented player is team captain Noemi Granados, who is only 16 years old and is a Tijuana native.
Veracruz has a similar team to Club Tijuana in terms of talent, and this should be a close game, but EVT predicts a 1-0 win for Veracruz.
