Xolos Femenil 2019 Clausura: Club Tijuana Ladies Host Penultimate Place Cruz Azul
Game: Xolos Femenil vs Cruz Azul Femenil
When: Monday, Feb. 11, 2019
Where: Estadio Caliente, Tijuana, Mexico
Time: 7:00 P.M. PST
Xolos Femenil achieved their first win at home last week as the Club Tijuana ladies defeated Toluca 1-0 at home.
The Xolos women’s team were led to victory by a penalty scored by team captain Patricia Gutierrez, but were lucky to get the win.
Toluca missed several clear chances in that match as the post and goalkeeper Guadalupe Olvera bailed out the Xolos. Regardless, the Club Tijuana ladies still came away with the three points and will look to keep that momentum going in this Week 7 matchup against Cruz Azul Femenil.
Gerardo Romo has mixed up his starting lineup in recent weeks as Patricia Gutierrez did not start against Toluca. However, it seems like Romo has found his ideal starting lineup that features talented players like Karen Maprigat, Inglis Hernandez, Valentina Oviedo and Sheila Pulido. The border city team is seventh in Group 1 of the Liga MX Femenil with seven points, just two points out of a playoff spot.
Cruz Azul Femenil has sparked controversy recently as several reports have come out about the lack of investment by Cruz Azul for the team. That lack of investment has been showing, as the Mexico City team is currently penultimate in Group 1 with just one point.
Cruz Azul has conceded 12 goals this season, which is the worst in Group 1 and has really struggled so far. Las Celestes earned their first point in the 2019 Clausura last week as they tied 0-0 against Puebla, but should struggle to stay consistent.
EVT predicts a 1-0 win for Xolos Femenil as the Club Tijuana ladies have the better team and will also have the home-field advantage at the Estadio Caliente.
