Xolos Femenil 2018 Apertura: Club Tijuana Ladies Look To Snap Two-Game Losing Streak Against Toluca
Game: Xolos Femenill vs Toluca Femenil
When: Monday, Aug. 20, 2018
Where: Estadio Caliente, Tijuana, Mexico
Time: 7:00 P.M. PST
Xolos Femenil will host Toluca Femenil at the Estadio Caliente this Monday, Aug. 20, in what will be their sixth game this season.
The Club Tijuana Ladies have two wins, a draw, and two losses in their first five games and are currently fifth in Group 1 of the tournament.
The losses have come in consecutive fashion as the border city team was defeated by Club America at the Estadio Caliente last week by a score of 1-0. Before that, Andrea Rodebaugh’s side suffered a 2-1 loss against Lobos BUAP at the Estadio Universitario BUAP in Week 4.
The Club Tijuana Ladies still have a very impressive mark at home, with wins against Pachuca and Pumas UNAM. The Xolos’ defense has been very strong. The midfield is led by team captain Patricia Gutierrez, and the attack has creative and talented players like Inglis Hernandez, Rosa Aguiar, and Karen Maprigat. Las Rojinegras would improve to third place in Group 1 with any win and could even be second in the group with a win by three goals or more.
A lop-sided victory is highly unlikely as Toluca does have a very good squad and is currently on a two-game winning streak. In this run, Las Diablas have wins against Puebla and Cruz Azul and have scored seven goals while only conceding one. The team is coached by Juan Mendoza, who has been in Toluca’s organization as a youth coach since 2015.
Toluca has a very solid squad and counterss with one of the most exciting young players in the league, Natalia Mauleon. The 16-year-old striker has three goals in Toluca’s last two games and has 20 total goals in the Liga MX Femenil since the league started in 2017.
The Club Tijuana Ladies will the have the advantage at the Estadio Caliente, but it should still be a very close game. EVT predicts a 1-1 draw as both teams are very talented and should provide the fans in attendance with a hard-fought clash.
