Xolos Femenil 2018 Apertura: Club Tijuana Ladies Host Second-Place Club America
Game: Xolos Femenil vs Club America Femenil
When: Monday, Aug. 13, 2018
Where: Estadio Caliente, Tijuana, Mexico
Time: 7:00 P.M. PST
The Tijuana Xolos women’s team will host Club America Femenil at the Estadio Caliente this Monday in what will be Xolos’ fifth game of the Liga MX Femenil 2018 Apertura season.
The Club Tijuana ladies have been impressive and are currently in fourth place in Group 1 of the Liga MX Femenil with seven points.
Andrea Rodebaugh’s team is coming off a 2-1 loss to Lobos BUAP in Puebla, but the border city team is undefeated at the Estadio Caliente.
Xolos Femenil has wins against Pachuca and Pumas UNAM and will be seeking its third consecutive victory at home. Inglis Hernandez has been the star player for the Xoloitzcuintles so far with three goals, including one last week against Lobos BUAP. Hernandez is just two goals behind Alison Hecnary Gonzalez, the league’s top scorer, who has five goals so far.
Andrea Rodebaugh’s defense has been solid throughout the season and the attack is exciting with players like Inglis Hernandez, Rosa Aguiar, and Karen Maprigat. Xolos Femenil is currently in a playoff position and looks like an under-the-radar candidate to make the top four in Group 1.
Club America Femenil has played three games so far and has won all three games against Puebla, Cruz Azul, and Toluca. Leonardo Cuellar, America’s head coach, is a legend in Mexican soccer for his playing career, and is really one of the pioneers of women’s soccer in Mexico.
His team has a lot of experience and talent. The current top scorer is defender Marylin Diaz, but the most crucial player to the team is Lucero Cuevas. Cuevas has been one of the best players in Liga MX Femenil since the league started, with 25 goals in two seasons.
The home-field advantage has helped the Club Tijuana ladies so far, but Las Aguilas are one of the best teams in the Liga MX Femenil. EVT predicts a 1-1 score at the Estadio Caliente in a game that has the potential to be very entertaining.
