On Monday, April 27th, the Aztecs landed a commitment from a European Professional. The 23-year-old Croatian, Luka Skorić, announced he was coming across the Atlantic to play for the Aztecs.

At 6-foot-9, Skorić brings a sharpshooter who can help defensively to an Aztec squad that have needed this type of archetype. Last year, during the transfer portal window, Skorić was thinking of coming to the United States. Garnishing significant interest from Kansas, he decided to stay and play pro ball.

During the Euro Cup Play this past year, the Croatian averaged 6.3 PPG and 3.1 RPG. In the Croatian Premier League, he shot 37.8% from beyond the arc. Here comes the kicker with getting a Pro from overseas. He is going to need to sit out a certain number of games to start the year, according to NCAA eligibility rules.
According to sources, the Aztecs and Skorić were a done deal early last week. The reason why it took so long for an announcement was due to a good amount of paperwork that needed to be sorted out.
With the addition of Skorić, the Aztecs could potentially already have their starting five in place for next year. The big question mark becomes whether or not Jeremiah “Bear” Cherry is the starting five. According to Dutcher on Schaeffer and Silwa, the Aztecs believe they have at least two guys close to commitments. The first domino has fallen with the announcement of Skorić. Rumors are circulating that the other is also another European Pro; time will tell whom Dutcher was speaking of.
