Tijuana Xolos Women’s Team Off To Promising Start In 2018 Apertura
Tijuana, Mexico
The Tijuana Xolos women’s team played their second game of the 2018 Apertura Liga MX Femenil this Monday.
Xolos Femenil tied 1-1 against Veracruz away from home at the Estadio Luis Pirata Fuente to remain undefeated this season.
The Club Tijuana ladies had a fantastic season-opener in Week 1 with a surprising 1-0 win against Pumas UNAM. Inglis Hernandez scored the goal that would lead the Xoloitzcuintles to the three points in Week 1 and she also scored her second of the season against Veracruz this Monday.
Another important player in these games has been goalkeeper Itzel Gonzalez that has stayed consistent with her excellent form from last season.
This Xolos Femenil team is a fresh one that features eight new players including a few that are just debuting in the league.
A lot of the same core from last season remains with Itzel Gonzalez, Patricia Gutierrez, Rosa Aguiar, Samantha Arellano and Sheila Pulido. But some of the new players like Alondra Carmargo, Tania Camargo and Mitzy Ortega have been making an impact.
The border city team is well-managed by Andrea Rodebaugh and her process has led to results in this 2018 Apertura.
Xolos Femenil is currently sitting in second in Group 1 of the Liga MX Femenil with four points after two games. Las Rojinegras are in fourth place overall in the league and will try and get that first-place spot in the group next week when they face Pachuca, the first-place team.
