Tijuana Xolos to host freindly at Snapdragon Stadium against Club America
This Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, the Tijuana Xolos announced that they will host a friendly match against Liga MX giants Club America next Sunday, March 26, 2023 (2:00 p.m. PST) at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
Snapdragon Stadium has been the home to SDSU Football, the San Diego Wave, and several other events since it first opened its doors in August of 2022.
The San Diego Wave has been a huge success led by superstar Alex Morgan, but this will be the first time men’s soccer is played at the Mission Valley facility. The 35,000-seat stadium is expected to host a sold-out crowd in what has the potential to be a very fun and passionate affair.
Club Tijuana has previously played several friendly games across the border in San Diego, including matches at the now-retired Qualcomm Stadium and at Torero Stadium, the home of the San Diego Loyal.
Xolos even previously hosted Club America at Qualcomm Stadium back in 2018, when the teams played to an exciting 2-2 draw. Miller Bolanos and Ignacio Malcorra scored for the Aztec Canines on that occasion, but current San Diego Loyal star Joe Corona scored the tying goal for Club America in the dying minutes of that match.
There was a fantastic atmosphere and turnout at that friendly in 2018 and a similar outcome is expected for the upcoming clash. Tickets will be available for purchase as early as this Friday, Feb.10, on both Ticketmaster and Ticketon.
Xolos have a great local fanbase, but Club America has one of the biggest fanbases in Mexican soccer, as tickets are expected to sell quickly. There will also be a fan fest offered at the event starting at 12:00 p.m. PST that will offer food, live music, and the opportunity to meet soccer legends.

The game will be played during the FIFA international break as some key players will be missing in action, but the fans still have a lot to look forward to. Club America will not visit the Estadio Caliente this season as Xolos visits the Azteca Stadium, as this will be the only opportunity for fans and haters of Las Aguilas to see the team in the region.
There has been an eternal push for an MLS team in San Diego, and this will be another opportunity for local fans to showcase their passion for the global sport.
