It was announced early afternoon on Thursday, October 23, that SDSU and UNLV will be doing a home-and-home in 2026 and 2027 after the Aztecs join the Pac-12.
NEWS: San Diego State and UNLV are finalizing an agreement to begin a home-and-home series at Viejas Arena during the 2026-27 season, according to multiple sources.

A great move by both Coach Dutcher and Coach Pastner to agree on continuing, for most see as a rivalry between the two schools.
Since 2018, the Aztecs are 12-5 against the Runnin’ Rebels. UNLV over the last seasons, though, has bested the Aztecs in three out of the last four matchups. Coach Dutcher and his extremely deep squad are hoping to return the favor of UNLV’s sweep of the Aztecs just last year.
This will be Coach Pastner’s first year in Sin City, coaching the Runnin’ Rebels.

The Rebels are picked to finish sixth in the conference this year, while the Aztecs were a unanimous choice to finish first in the conference. UNLV was going to be a sleeper team to look out for, but due by multiple injuries to key players on the roster. Do not be shocked to see the Rebels finish in the bottom five of the conference.
San Diego State’s Magoon Gwath (knee) has not been cleared for all basketball related activities and is not expected to be cleared until 11/6, per Brian Dutcher.
The 7-foot Gwath averaged 8.5 PPG and 5.2 RPG last season and was the Mountain West Freshman and Defensive POY.

In other Aztecs news, it was also announced that Magoon Gwath is not expected to be cleared for all basketball-related activities until November 6.
As expected by most around the program and Aztec fans, likely, Gwath will not return until the Aztecs face off against Troy on November 18. Just six days prior to the Aztecs traveling to Las Vegas to take part in the luxurious Players ERA NIL tournament.
