SD Loyal SC sign forward Niki Jackson
February 11, 2021
Drafted in 2018 by Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids, Niki Jackson has proven to be a goal-scoring threat.
Jackson was selected 78th overall in the MLS SuperDraft and scored his first goal in his MLS debut against the New England Revolution. Before being drafted, Jackson scored 41 goals for Grand Canyon University over his career and was later named WAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Manager Landon Donovan continues to add quality players to Team 1.
“Niki is a proven goal scorer and has the ability to be one of the best attacking players in the league,” Donovan said. “He is also a tremendous young man who is extremely motivated to prove himself. We are excited to bring him to our club!”
The 25-year-old scored 23 goals for Charlotte Independence in 2019 while on loan from the Rapids.

Donovan’s roster is shaping up to be one of the top teams in the USL Championship for 2021. Jackson brings speed and athleticism to a club that lacked scoring early on in the 2020 season.
“My family and I are beyond excited to be a part of the San Diego Loyal family,” Jackson said. “I’m looking forward to meeting the guys and getting to work with an amazing staff as I’ve heard nothing but great things about the club. I’m excited to give my everything and bring lots of joy to the city and fans. Let’s bring a championship to San Diego.”
The Loyal have one goal in mind, bringing a Championship to the city of San Diego.
