San Diego FC is now first in the MLS Western Conference after a massive 5-3 win against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Along with this feat, SDFC has the second-most players (3) on the MLS All-Star roster.

Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, Anders Dreyer, and Jeppe Tverskov all made the All-Star squad. The only team with more players named (4) was the Vancouver Whitecaps, as Yohei Takaoka, Tristan Blackmon, Sebastian Berhalter, and Brian White all made the squad.

All three players selected for San Diego FC have made a significant impact on the roster, and all three are new to Major League Soccer.

Hirving Lozano had only played in Europe and Mexico before joining San Diego, coming over from PSV Eindhoven. Anders Dreyer and Jeppe Tverskov had played their entire careers in Europe, mostly playing in Denmark.

Lozano is currently dealing with a muscle injury, but should be available for the All-Star game on July 23. “Chucky” is set to face some familiar faces as the MLS All-Stars will host the Liga MX All-Stars in Austin, Texas.

The Mexican international has five goals and five assists this season and has quickly become a fan favorite around the league. Anders Dreyer has arguably been the most vital signing for SDFC in this inaugural campaign.

The Danish forward leads Major League Soccer with 12 assists and has also scored eight goals, which are the second most on SDFC. Dreyer’s scoring prowess and playmaking ability make him a complete forward that had made a quick transition to this league.

Jeppe Tverskov is the most subtle selection for San Diego, but his impact is matched, if not greater than, Lozano and Dreyer. San Diego’s captain is one of the most complete midfielders in MLS and an absolutely vital part of this team.

Tverskov has the ability to mark any opposing player in the league and has an immense ability to recover the sphere. The Danish midfielder is also a gifted playmaker as he can launch long balls forward that help with the transition from the backline to the offense.

The big name on this MLS side is Lionel Messi, but there is plenty of talent all around on this roster. San Diego FC continues to impress, and it will be interesting to see if this momentum continues before this All-Star game.
