Padres affiliates went 1-1 on Wednesday.

Let’s dive right into the games played. 

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 11-5 vs Oklahoma City) (59-86 on the season)

Mason McCoy – 1-for-4, Double, Four RBI

Gage Workman – 2-for-4, Double, RBI

Ian Koenig – 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K (79 pitches – 56 strikes)

El Paso starting pitcher Ian Koenig pitched a quality start against the playoff-bound Oklahoma City Comets. Koenig allowed one run on three hits in six innings of work, with the only run scoring on a solo home run by Chris Newell. OKC went with a left-handed heavy lineup, but it mattered not, as Koenig struck out four batters and recorded eight outs on ground balls. The right-hander now has a 2.45 ERA in his first four Triple-A starts with a 20/4 K/BB ratio in 22 innings. It has been a remarkable rise up the system for the now 25-year-old, who has gone from opening 2024 in the ACL to closing out 2026 in Triple-A. Koenig will likely make his final start of the season on Sunday. Ty Adcock threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, not allowing a baserunner. Trevor Gott’s second Chihuahuas outing was not as clean as his first; the right-hander allowed a walk, a hit batter, and a two-run double before departing due to an undisclosed injury. Alek Jacob entered in relief and allowed a two-run home run to Ryan Fitzgerald. After the home run, Jacob retired all three batters he faced to close out a comfortable win. 

The Chihuahuas’ offense notched 10 hits in the win, with eight of nine starters finishing with at least one hit. Mason McCoy’s return to the El Paso lineup saw the Chihuahuas’ second baseman drive in four runs. McCoy’s second-inning double cleared the bases, giving El Paso a 4-0 lead. Miguel Andujar drove in two runs on a single, going 1-for-5 and playing left field. Nick Solak and Gage Workman each had two hits in the game, with Workman hitting an RBI double. Marcos Castanon and Anthony Vilar each scored three runs, with Vilar going 1-for-2 with a single and two walks. 

San Antonio Missions – Season Over

The Missions will be sending four players to the Arizona Fall League, as pitchers Igor Gil and Francis Pena will join infielder Justin DeCriscio and outfielder Alex McCoy with the Peoria Javelinas. 

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 9-1 vs San Jose) (1-1 in Finals, 3-1 overall in postseason)

Jesus A. Castro – 4.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 3 K (88 pitches – 59 strikes)

We’re on to Game 3. The Storm were no-hit in a 9-1 loss on Game 2 of the California League finals. Dawson Willis scored the team’s only run in the third inning, drawing a walk and moving up on a balk. Willis reached third on a passed ball, and Elliot Lascelles then walked. Lascelles took off for second, drawing a throw, and Willis broke for home. The throwback to home was late, and Willis scored. Willis and Lascelles were the only Storm batters to walk in the game. Alex Conover was hit by a pitch in the seventh, but was thrown out stealing second base. Jesus A. Castro battled through 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Castro allowed an RBI single in the fourth inning, and a two-out RBI double in the fifth inning ended his outing. Tyler Pitzer was charged with three earned runs in one-third of an inning. Rob Evans allowed two runs (one earned) in 1.1 innings, and Yoesmerli Beltre allowed two unearned runs in one-third of an inning. Rordy Mejia threw the final 1.1 innings, allowing no runs.
