Public Service Announcement- “Stay The Course” Chargers Fans
Nowadays we all take to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter right away. A bit too early if you ask me. Step away, have a shot, beer, or whatever vice you choose. Don’t jump ship, regardless. The Browns, Bills, and Raiders fans know losing. We’ve fallen on hard times, San Diego, but stay the course. Those previously mentioned teams have not done anything in ages. While Oakland may be finally beginning to right their ship, it’s still too early to crown them winners on the season. They are 3-1 currently through the first four weeks.
The media seems to have a witch-hunt of sorts for the team I love. Yes, Mike McCoy is cliche personified. Hindsight as they say is… 20/20. Give Melvin Gordon the ball after he fumbles. Build up his confidence more than it is already. “That Boy Good”… real good. Kenneth Farrow is undrafted, but he made the 53 man roster. Grind away at the clock, don’t give it back.. when you’ve shown the propensity to give away games.. keep away.. play it!
As I angrily watched this week’s Monday Night Football game, Giants vs. Vikings, I heard them announce that Mike Zimmer plays everyone he has. I saw a healthy Griff Whalen running around. So while Travis Benjamin looks scared or unprepared, give Whalen a look. Dontrelle Inman upped his game Sunday afternoon. It was nice to see. I don’t know.. perhaps the poor man’s flag football player in me, sees more than the average fan.
To Mr. San Diego Chargers himself, Philly Riv, right, Deion? I believe, I am your biggest fan in the world. All I ask is for you to be patient with these youngsters. The future is now, these boys can play.. show them the way. I don’t normally mind you going nuts, but I think in this particular season… R-E-L-A-X. You outplayed Drew Brees for anyone who really knows football. Unfortunately, the game was handed to him, and the naysayers will act blind. I see you Philip, don’t worry.
To one of my all-time favorite Chargers “players”, LaDainian Tomlinson, please stop with the crazy comments. You’re in the media now, I get it I can almost take it myself. Many others will blow it up, and hang on your every word. I started watching this thing back when we had John Friesz. I know what lean years are. This team just needs direction.
Young linebacker Jatavis Brown, that was cool man.. I saw you pumping people up, when things were getting tight late. I see you, youngster!
I know three different Chargers on this team personally. It may often times provide a buffer. I’d like to think it offers a human side to my writing. It would be easy to go on and on, but by now I think my point has been made. There is a team in the AFC that has scored 121 points. The most in the conference. That same team surrendered 108 points. That team could be 4-0, I’d take 3-1. They are your San Diego Chargers. Stay the course y’all, stay the dang course.
Like many fans at Qualcomm last week, I left stunned. I still left a fan, this won’t be the last heartbreaker. You don’t walk away when times are tough. I don’t know who this will reach, but can only hope for a turnaround. They say stats lie, and sometimes they do. If these boys stop messing their beds, they can be special.
