Padres Winter League Report: October 31
It was a quiet day around the globe on Wednesday.
Franchy Cordero is in the D.R. and should soon see some game time with the Leones de Escogido.
Here is a recap of the day’s action:
Arizona Fall League
Buddy Reed– (2-3) SB, 2 Runs, RBI, BB, K
The outfielder was batting third and playing center fielder for the Javelinas on Wednesday. He is currently hitting .386 on the year and will play in the Fall Stars Game this Saturday.
Blake Rogers– 1 IP, BB
He continues to throw well, posting a 0.00 ERA in his first handful of games. Rogers has an excellent shot to be a valuable bullpen piece for the Padres eventually.
Mexican winter league
Gerardo Reyes– 1 IP, 1 BB, 1 K
The Mexican right-hander continues to pitch well as he hasn’t allowed a run in his first six appearances.
Dominican winter league
Franmil Reyes– (0-2)
The big outfielder was ejected by the home plate umpire. He is batting .200 (1-for-5) on the year in his first two games of the year for the Leones.
Eric Yardley– 1 IP, 1 K
The side-armed, right-handed pitcher is still pitching very well in the D.R. He loves pitching there and it shows as he has a 1.17 ERA so far this season.
Venezuelan winter league
Edward Olivares– (1-4) 2b, Run, K
The outfielder is hitting .262 on the year in Venezuela. Olivares will be eligible for the Rule 5 draft if the Padres do not add him to their 40-man roster.
