Padres Winter League Report: November 5 (Potts and Franmil in Action)
Peoria lost 9-5 to Glendale on Monday.
The Javelinas are still in first place with a 15-7 record on the year. They are enjoying a six-game lead over the second place Glendale Desert Dogs in the AFL Western Division.
A few other men played on Monday throughout the globe.
Here is a recap of the day’s events:
Arizona Fall League
Hudson Potts– (1-4) K
Third baseman Hudson Potts has struggled a bit in Arizona as he is hitting .226 on the year. He has struck out 21 times in 62 at bats so far for the Javelinas. At 20, there is still plenty of time for him to grow as a player. This is just another step in his development.
Blake Rogers– 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 K
Rogers’ ERA is at 1.80, after allowing one earned run in 1.2 innings pitched on Monday. The right-handed reliever was a late addition to the roster in Arizona, but has wasted no time in fitting right in. Pitching coach Pete Zamora (the Storm pitching coach) has reportedly made the move easier for Rogers.
Dominican winter league
Franmil Reyes– (1-3) BB, K
Reyes is hitting .316 on the year after going 1-for-3 on Monday. He was the DH in the game and has only played the field a few times since starting his winter league campaign last week. La Mole looks to be in good shape in the video seen from the D.R., but needs more time in the outfield to get better.
Eric Yardley– 1 IP, BB, K
Yardley continues to pitch well in the Dominican Republic, with a 0.87 ERA so far this season. He pitched a scoreless inning on Monday.
Jonathan Aro– 0.1 IP
The power-pitching right-hander has had a little trouble in the D.R. so far, recording a 10.80 ERA. He has an outside chance at a bullpen spot at some point in 2019 for the Padres.
