Padres take game three against Rockies, 9-3

The San Diego Padres returned to Coors Field Wednesday night to play game three of a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies snapped the Padres’ win streak following Tuesday’s 9-3 loss. Coincidentally, this maneuver also ended a rather long losing streak for Rocks. In any case, the Padres remain two and a half games above the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t keep fighting for wins.
The Padres struck first early, with Ty France hitting a Sac Fly to score Fernando Tatis Jr. in the first inning.
In every game this series so far, the Padres have scored at least one run in the first inning. So far, the longest they’ve gone without scoring is four innings in Tuesday’s loss.
Coors Field is notable for being a hitter-friendly ballpark. The Padres have certainly taken advantage of that this series.
Jake Cronenworth broke up the monotony and hit a single to score Manny Machado, bringing the Padres to a 2-0 lead in the first.
Robbie Ray opened his start by walking Jake McCarthy. It’s a rather on-brand mistake for Ray. As a Padre, his walks per nine innings is 6.4. With San Francisco, it was 4.2.
A final walk after a HBP, loaded the bases with one out. The Padres took out the lead runner, but McCarthy still scored. However, Ray pulled things together and minimized the damage.
A big moment came next. Ethan Salas answered on his turn by hitting his first major league home run.

The 426ft straightaway missile is not only a reminder of how far the rookie has come but a well-deserved achievement for his hard work. This was the first of many for the 20-year-old catcher.
Ray eventually leveled out as he continued his start, while the Padres added another run in the fourth. The Padres continued to put pressure on the Rockies.

Ethan Salas’s night was far from over. He blasted another home run this time with a runner on base. By the end of it, the Padres led 8-1.

The Padres continued to add on. However, the Rockies’ Kyle Karros struck back against Robbie Ray, knocking in a two-run homer.
Be that as may, Ray still had himself a quality start. Going six full innings of three-run ball. He even managed to minimize his walks following the first-inning snafu.
The final score of Wednesday night’s game was 9-3. A complete reversal of the previous game’s score in favor of the Padres this time. With that, the Padres have the chance to win the series in Thursday’s game.
On the mound for the Padres is Michael King (11-9, 3.03 ERA). For the Rockies is Tanner Gordon (1-4, 5.55 ERA).
