According to Jon Heyman, the San Diego Padres are linked to Miguel Andujar, who is a free agent.

Looking at the San Diego Padres roster, there is no doubt that additions must be made.

At this point, the Padres are extremely thin in the bench area, where names like Bryce Johnson, Mason McCoy, Tirso Ornelas, and Will Wagner are all in line to make the team. One or two of these men would be feasible, but this whole unit will not help the Padres. They need veteran names. Players who are capable of producing.

Miguel Andujar is coming off an excellent offensive year with the Reds and A’s in 2025.

He would solidify the Padres’ roster if they were to sign him.

Last season, Andujar put up an .822 OPS in 321 at-bats between the A’s and the Reds. He slugged 10 homers and put up a 125 OPS+ in 94 games.

According to Heyman, there are several teams vying for his services.

He will not be had on an inexpensive deal. The Padres will arguably need to commit to a multiple-year deal for the 30-year-old if they are truly interested.

Andujar started his career with the Yankees, debuting at the age of 22 in 2017. He broke out in 2018, recording a .297/.328/.527 batting line in 149 games and 573 at-bats. The right-handed hitter put up 27 homers and drove in 97 runs. He looked like a future star for the Bronx Bombers, finishing second in A.L. Rookie of the Year voting.

Injuries and lack of production limited him to just 105 more games with the Yankees in the next four seasons. He never came close to reproducing those offensive numbers until this past year.

I'd like this amount to

The real question is, can Miguel Andujar stay healthy? Can he produce consistently? Can he find that 2018 production?

The right-handed swing is very fluid. He makes consistent contact and does not strike out fairly often. Andujar is not patient at the plate and does not typically walk much either. He does use the whole field effectively and can slash the ball from foul line to foul line. There is potential.

There will be several suitors for Miguel Andujar. Maybe he finally found his swing and is a late bloomer.

The Padres will need to step up if they want to sign the Dominican outfielder/third baseman.

The clock is ticking. The Padres need to start filling out the roster.
