Padres Down on the Farm: September 6 (Rosario 2 hits for EP/Mears homers again for SA)
San Diego Padres affiliates went 3-1 on Friday.
Here is a recap of the day’s events.
El Paso Chiahuahuas (Won 5-4 over Reno) (54-82 on the season)
Clay Dungan– (2-for-4) HR, 2 Runs, RBI
Eguy Rosario– (2-for-5) 2B, Run, RBI, BB, K
Matt Waldron– 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 4 K (75 pitches- 51 strikes)
The Chihuahuas earned the win as an Eguy Rosario single put the team up by one run in the top of the 10th inning. Rosario was 2-for-5 in the game with a double. Clay Dungan homered and scored two runs in the win. Matthew Batten chipped in with a 2-for-5 day at the plate.
El Paso secured the win as Austin Davis got the last six outs of the game. The lefty pitched well and lowered his ERA to 3.24 on the season. Matt Waldron started the game and went five innings, allowing four earned runs.
San Antonio Missions (Won 9-3 over Tulsa) (58-70 on the season)
Connor Hollis– (3-for-4) 2B, 2 Runs, RBI, BB, K
Robert Perez Jr.- (2-for-5) 2 Runs, SB, RBI, K
Henry Baez– 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, BB, 2 K (87 pitches- 52 strikes)
The Missions were victorious behind a strong pitching effort of right-hander Henry Baez, who went six innings, allowing one earned run. Baez is 4-1 with a 3.30 ERA in the Texas League. Raul Brito threw the last three innings and allowed two earned runs.
Connor Hollis was the hotting star as he went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Robert Perez Jr. scored two runs and stole a base for the Missions. Josh Mears slugged his fourth home run in the win but did strike out twice. Jayvien Sandridge threw two shutout innings and struck out five of the six batters he faced in the game.
Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 4-1 over South Bend) (53-77 on the season)
Jacob Campbell– (2-for-4) 3B, 2B, RBI
Nerwillian Cedeno- (1-for-4) Run, 2 RBI
Braden Nett– 4 IP, 3 H, 5 BB, 5 K (83 pitches- 48 strikes)
A three-run fifth inning led the TinCaps to a 4-1 win over South Bend. Braden Nett started the game and went four innings, only allowing one unearned run. He was a bit wild as he walked five in the game. Fernando Sanchez earned the win as he threw 3.2 scoreless innings, striking out four batters. Manuel Castro pitched the 9th and picked up his 12th save of the season.
Nerwillian Cedeno was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Jacob Campbell doubled and tripled in the win. Kai Murphy was 1-for-2 with two walks.
Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 4-2 to Inland Empire) (70-58 on the season)
Chase Valentine– (2-for-4) Run, SB
Kai Roberts– (2-for-4) 2 2B, RBI, K
Kleiber Olmedo– 4 IP, 0 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K (56 pitches- 35 strikes)
The Storm lost on the road as Inland Empire scored two late runs of the bullpen. Alejandro Lugo picked up the loss in the game as he allowed one earned run in three innings of work. Xavier Ruiz allowed a run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Kleiber Olmedo started the game and allowed two earned runs in four innings of work.
Chase Valentine was 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base. Kai Roberts doubled twice in the loss and drove in a run. Lamr King Jr was 0-for-3 with a strikeout and a walk.
