Padres Down on the Farm: September 29 (Scholtens deals, 2 hits for O’Grady)
With the Dominican Summer League Padres off on Wednesday, only the El Paso Chihuahuas were in action for the Padres.
The Chihuahuas began their final series of the season, and as much of the season has gone for El Paso, they suffered a tough loss.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 2-1) (49-77)
Brian O’Grady– 2-4
Matt Batten– 1-3, 1 R, 1 K
Gosuke Katoh– 1-4, 1 K
Jesse Scholtens– 8 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 7 K, 1 BB
The El Paso Chihuahuas wasted a fantastic start from Jesse Scholtens in a 2-1 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers. As the away team, Scholtens pitched all eight innings for the Chihuahuas. In the fifth inning, Scholtens allowed a two-run home run to Christian Santana, his lone blemish. The El Paso offense only squandered four hits, half of which came off the bat of Brian O’Grady. No Chihuahuas’ hitter was credited with an RBI in the contest, as the only run was scored by Matt Batten on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.
Congratulations to RHP Jesse Scholtens!
