El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 14-8 vs Oklahoma City) (60-89 on the season)

Gage Workman – 2-for-5, Two Singles, Four RBI

JP Sears – 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K (9 pitches – 5 strikes)

Abraham Parra – 1.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 1 K (45 pitches – 26 strikes)

El Paso’s offense came to life for 14 runs in its final Saturday contest of the season. This game was a true PCL barn-burner, as the teams combined for 22 runs on 26 hits. Mason McCoy scored the team’s first run on a sacrifice fly in the third. McCoy’s run was notable, as it came after the infielder swiped his 40th base of the season. McCoy became the second player in Chihuahuas history to record a 40-steal season, joining Tim Lopes in 2023. McCoy is two stolen bases shy of Lopes’ franchise record of 42 stolen bases, also set in 2023.

El Paso broke the walls down with five runs in the fourth inning. After loading the bases on a walk and two singles, Gage Workman grounded a two-run single to right field to bring El Paso within two. Victor Duarte hit a sac fly, trimming the deficit to one, and after a mad dash from first to third, Gage Workman scored on a single by Rosman Verdugo. Three batters later, an RBI single from Miguel Andujar gave El Paso a 6-5 lead. The Chihuahuas more than doubled their run total in the sixth inning, scoring seven times against a pair of Comets relievers.

Verdugo and McCoy reached safely to open the inning, and a Bryce Johnson bunt scored both runners on a throwing error by pitcher Griff McGarry. After a pitching change, El Paso’s lineup loaded the bases before a single by Marcos Castanon made it a 9-6 lead. Nick Pratto hit an opposite-field double to score two more, and Gage Workman’s second single of the game gave El Paso a 13-6 lead. A Pratto sac fly in the seventh inning gave the Chihuahuas a commanding 14-6 lead, and the bullpen did their job from there. 

JP Sears started for El Paso in what was planned as an abbreviated outing. The southpaw threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Abraham Parra, who was just called up to El Paso with Trevor Gott landing on the injured list, threw 1.2 innings in relief. Parra allowed five runs, with all five scoring on a pair of home runs. The 20-year old struck out one while walking one batter. Coming at batters from a steep low-¾ slot, Parra’s sinker-heavy approach could allow him to be successful at the altitude of El Paso, and he is likely to open the 2027 season at Double-A San Antonio. Daison Acosta threw 2.1 innings of one-run ball in relief. Ty Adcock earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three of seven batters faced. Alek Jacob threw the final two innings, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks.
