Padres Down on the Farm: June 16 (Storm win/Waldron pitches well/top hitting prospects struggle)
Only the Lake Elsinore Storm were victorious Wednesday, while the El Paso Chihuahuas did not play on their day off.
El Paso Chihuahuas (16-19 on the season)
OFF
After an off-day Wednesday, El Paso will get back into action Thursday when they host the Sugar Land Skeeters. Evan Miller will be the starting pitcher for El Paso.
San Antonio Missions (Lost 3-2) (21-17 on the season)
CJ Abrams- 0-for-3
Yorman Rodriguez– 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 R
Caleb Boushley– 5 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 4 K
Carlos Belen– 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 K
The Missions offense went very quiet Wednesday in their 3-2 loss to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. At the top of the lineup, top prospect C.J. Abrams went 0-3 and saw his batting average drop to .294 on the season. The Naturals jumped right of the gates with a run in the first inning when Clay Dungan hit a home run. San Antonio immediately responded with a run of their own on a sacrifice fly from Kyle Overstreet. The Missions did not score until the eighth inning when Yorman Rodriguez belted a home run. The Naturals added run in the fourth and fifth inning that were good enough to get them the victory. San Antonio only tallied three hits.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 3-2) (16-21)
Justin Lopez– 1-for-4, 1 RBI

Matt Waldron– 6 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 7 H, 4 K, 1 BB
Jose Geraldo– 1 IP, 0 R, 3 K
A late comeback for the Fort Wayne TinCaps fell just short in their 3-2 loss to the Dayton Dragons. After a fielding error by Kelvin Melean in the fourth inning led to two unearned runs, the TinCaps trailed 3-0. Fort Wayne waited until the seventh inning to get on the board before Grant Little hit an RBI-singlee. The TinCaps added another run on a single by Justin Lopez in the eighth inning to claw within just one run. They could not complete the comeback in the ninth inning when Francis Peguero entered and got the save for Dayton.
Gabe Mosser will start for the TinCaps against the Dragons on Thursday.

Lake Elsinore used two big innings to propel themselves to a 6-2 victory over the Inland Empire 66ers. Levi Thomas got the start for the Storm and gave five innings of work while allowing just two runs. These were the only two runs the Storm allowed, as Ruben Galindo and Keegan Collett combined for four scoreless innings in relief. Collett struck out all three batters he faced. After falling behind in the fourth inning, the Storm added three runs in the top of the fifth inning with only one hit, a leadoff double by Zack Mathis. Lake Elsinore tacked on two more runs in the ninth inning for good measure.
Lake Elsinore has not announced their starter for Thursday.
