Padres Down on the Farm: June 15 (DSL Padres sweep Monday’s games)

Padres affiliates ended Monday with a total record of 2-1.
Without further ado, onto the day’s events.
El Paso Chihuahuas – Off Day
El Paso is back at home this week, and will open a six-game series against the Reno Aces (Arizona Triple-A). No starter has been announced to this point.
San Antonio Missions – Off Day

The Missions, coming off a thrilling home win, take their momentum on the road against Corpus Christi (Houston Double-A). Eric Yost is lined up to start the opener, and in his fourth appearance since coming off the injured list, he will likely throw 75-80 pitches.
Fort Wayne TinCaps – Off Day
The TinCaps return home for a rematch with the South Bend Cubs. Matthew Watson takes the ball in the series opener; he has a 5.62 ERA in two appearances (one start) against the Cubs this season.
Lake Elsinore Storm – Off Day
The Storm make their first trip to the Upper Peninsula, as they are set to play a six-game set against the San Jose Giants. Winyer Chourio will take the ball in the opener, coming off a nine-strikeout gem. With their next victory, Lake Elsinore will clinch a playoff spot for the first time since their run to the California League Championships in 2024.
ACL Padres (Lost 5-4 vs ACL Royals) (17-15 on the season)
Jesmaylin Arias – 2-for-2, Home Run, Two RBI
Luis De Leon – 2-for-4, Two Singles
Erick Batista – 2.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 2 K
Right-hander Erick Batista made his second start of the season, pitching 2.1 innings of three-run baseball. Two of three runs allowed by the right-hander were earned, and he struck out two batters. Batista has shown a repeatable delivery with moderate intensity, and has sat comfortably around 94-95 mph with the fastball. Dalvi Nunez allowed the go-ahead run to reach against him in 1.2 innings, with said run scoring against Dariel Polanco. Polanco fired off three innings of one-run baseball, and his season ERA now sits at 2.96. Yoesmerli Beltre threw a scoreless eighth inning in relief. Outfielder Jesmaylin Arias drove in a pair of runs, which included his third home run of the season. Arias has posted some of the better average exit velocities on the team, and now has an OPS north of .800 on the season. Luis De Leon hit two singles in four at-bats, and now has a .393 OBP in 28 games. Both Santiago’s in the lineup had an RBI in the game, as Santiago Contreras hit a sacrifice fly. Santiago Vargas drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning. Jhoan De La Cruz struck out three times in three at-bats.
DSL Padres Gold (Won 10-5 vs DSL Orioles Orange) (8-2 on the season)
Timothy Mogen – 2-for-4, Two Doubles, Two RBI
Angel Mejia – 2-for-3, Two Singles, Two RBI
Michel Cervantes – 3.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 6 K
Right-hander Michel Cervantes struck out six batters in 3.1 innings of work in the Padres Gold’s 10-5 win. Cervantes allowed three runs on four hits, but picked up three of four outs in play on the ground. The Mexican-born right-hander has struck out 13 in his first nine innings in the pros, albeit with 10 walks. Ariel Dilone allowed one run in two-thirds of an inning, and Albieris Polanco picked up the win with two innings of one-run baseball in relief. Raymel Burciaga closed out the game by striking out three in the seventh inning. Timothy Mogen hit two doubles in the victory, driving in two of ten runs. Mogen raised his season OPS to .700 with his performance. Eddson Martinez reached base twice, scoring two runs. Angel Mejia hit two singles, driving in two runs and scoring one. Ricardo De La Paz had a double in three at-bats, also walking and picking up an RBI.
DSL Padres Brown (Won 8-6 in 10 innings vs DSL Tampa Bay) (4-7 on the season)
Sebastian Maldonado – 2-for-5, Two Singles, Two RBI
Pedro Silva – 2-for-4, Two Singles, RBI
Yoandres Valdiviezo – 3 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 4 K
Yoandres Valdiviezo pitched three innings of three-run baseball with four strikeouts. The left-hander exhibited stronger command than his first outings, as he only walked two. Dioscaride Sarit threw three innings of one-run baseball, striking out three and walking three. Aneurys Sosa pitched two scoreless innings despite two walks issued. Kelvin Marte allowed two runs in the ninth, but was able to rebound with a scoreless tenth. Sebastian Maldonado drove in two runs for the Padres Brown, with his two-run single in the tenth inning becoming the game-winning hit. Eliander Primera was one of three Padres to score two runs in the game; Pedro Silva and Dawry Guerrero were the other two. Yonaiker Hernandez and Osmy Osorio drove in a run each, and Luis Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a sac fly.
