Padres affiliates went 1-2 on Monday.

El Paso Chihuahuas – Off Day

The Chihuahuas travel to Las Vegas to face off against the Aviators (Athletics Triple-A) this week. Sean Boyle gets the ball in the series opener. 

San Antonio Missions – Off Day

The Missions are set to welcome the Frisco RoughRiders (Texas Double-A) for a six-game set. Eric Yost takes the mound in the opener; in his last outing against the RoughRiders, he allowed three runs in 3.1 innings back on June 10. 

Fort Wayne TinCaps – Off Day

The TinCaps welcome the Lake County Captains (Cleveland High-A) for a six-game set for what feels like the 10th time this season (it’s not). Kannon Kemp makes his Parkview Field debut as the team’s starter on Tuesday. 

Lake Elsinore Storm – Off Day

The Storm are back at the Diamond, taking on Visalia (Arizona Single-A) for a six-game set. The last time the Storm welcomed Visalia at the Diamond, the Storm picked up a six-game sweep. 

ACL Padres (Won 16-6 vs ACL Angels in 6 innings) (32-25 on the season)

Eddson Martinez – 3-for-5, Three Singles, Four RBI

Jesmaylin Arias – 3-for-3, Home Run, Three RBI

Erick Batista – 2.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 1 K (65 pitches – 31 strikes)

Despite a short start from Erick Batista, the Padres’ offense exploded for 16 runs in a win over the ACL Angels. Eddson Martinez drove in four runs on three hits, scoring two runs. Martinez has a .965 OPS since joining the ACL Padres. One of Martinez’s three singles came off a 103.1 mph fastball from rehabbing Angels right-hander Ben Joyce. Ty Harvey went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the win. Jesmaylin Arias went a perfect 3-for-3 with his eighth home run of the season, driving in three runs. Isaac Ponce doubled and drove in two runs as well. Every member of the Padres lineup scored at least one run in the game. 

Erick Batista lasted 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. The right-hander maxed out at 97.2 mph on the fastball, averaging 94 mph on the four-seam and the sinker. Batista allowed just one out on a fly ball, and despite striking out just one, he was able to minimize the damage. Miguel Alvarez picked up the final out of the third, but walked the first three batters he faced in the fourth inning. Florangel Vasquez entered from the bullpen, allowing all three inherited runners to score plus a run of his own. Vasquez threw two innings before the game was called due to rain, earning the win. 

DSL Padres Gold (Lost 6-2 vs DSL Athletics) (25-10 on the season)

Joniel Hernandez – 1-for-4, Single, Two RBI

Dayquer Alfonzo – 2-for-3, Two Doubles, Walk

Michel Cervantes – 3 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 2 K

Michel Cervantes allowed five runs in three innings as the DSL Padres Gold lost by a 6-2 final score. Cervantes struck out just two batters, walking three in his outing. Guillermo Romero picked up the final out of the second inning, with Cervantes re-entering the game afterwards. Jose Perez pitched 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and Jose Blanco struck out three in 2.1 innings of one-run baseball. Joniel Hernandez picked up a single, also driving in the Padres Gold’s two runs in the eighth inning. Dayquer Alfonzo recorded two doubles in the game, but did not score a run. Eliander Primera and Darian Castillo each walked once, scoring a run. 

In other DSL Padres Gold news, right-hander Albieris Polanco was named to the DSL NL All-Star team. Polanco pitched to a 2.91 ERA in 21.2 innings to earn the nod.

DSL Padres Brown (Lost 4-2 vs DSL Astros Blue) (7-27 on the season)

Gabriel Teran – 3-for-4, Three Singles, Run Scored

Ronnier Heras – 1-for-4, Two-RBI Double

Yoandres Valdiviezo – 2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R (1 ER), 5 BB, 1 K

Left-hander Yoandres Valdiviezo walked five in 2.2 innings, allowing two runs. The left-hander was unable to escape the first after walking four with two outs, but re-entered for the second and third innings. Nathanael Jacinto pitched three scoreless innings, striking out two and walking three. Jesus Heredia took the loss, allowing a run in the seventh inning. Aneury Sosa allowed one run in two innings of relief. Gabriel Teran had three singles in the game, scoring one of the two Padres runs. Berman Moreno and Rafael Moran each had a single in the loss. Ronnier Heras hit a two-run double to score the team’s lone two runs of the game. Jeanfranco Fernandez, who was named to the DSL All-Star game, went 0-for-2 as a pinch-hitter in the loss.
