San Diego Padres affiliates went 5-1 on Thursday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (59-39) Won 7-4

The El Paso Chihuahuas are the first team in professional baseball to reach 200 home runs in a season. The team slugged four homers on Thursday in a 7-4 win over the Reno Aces. Luis Urias, Ty France, Aderlin Rodriguez, and Jose Pirela all homered in the win. Urias was making his return to the field after missing a handful of games with a shoulder injury. Urias’ 19th homer of the season came in the 7th inning. Left-handed pitcher Dillion Overton started the game and went five innings for the win. He has a 6.78 ERA on the season for the Chihuahuas. Eric Yardley saved his seventh game of the year and has a 2.76 ERA in the PCL.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (48-47) Lost 10-9

Amarillo rallied late to tie the game, but a late homer by Zach Kirtley powered the Springfield Cardinals to a 10-9 win. Luis Torrens’ pinch-hit homer in the eighth inning tied the game at nine, but Evan Miller was unable to hold the game for the Soddies. Ronald Bolanos has knocked around for eight runs in four innings of work. He allowed nine hits and struck out six in the game. His ERA jumped to 5.57 on the year. Dauris Valdez was clocked at 101 mph in his two innings of work. He struck out three in two scoreless innings and has a 5.25 ERA. Taylor Kohlwey recorded three hits in the loss while three Sod Poodles hitters went deep.

Lake Elsinore Storm (49-47) Won 7-3

Aaron Leasher continues to elevate his name into the Padres’ top prospect rankings. The left-handed pitcher went seven shutout innings in the Storm’s 7-3 win over the Modesto Nuts. Leasher struck out six and now has an ERA at 3.16 for the season in the Cal League. Javy Guerra threw a scoreless inning for the Storm, walking a batter and striking one out. Lake Elsinore managed 13 hits in the game, led by Gabriel Arias and Jack Suwinski who both had three hits. Gabriel Arias went 3-for-4 and is hitting .359 in his last ten games. The 19-year-old has turned up his offensive game in 2019 and has a .737 OPS now on the season.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (42-52) Won 12-11

The TinCaps won a wild game 12-11 as they scored ten unanswered runs in the last four innings including five in the bottom of the eighth. Jawuan Harris hit two homers in the game as the TinCaps knocked out 12 hits in the game. Sam Keating made a start and was knocked around for seven runs on eight hits in only four innings. Austin Smith relieved him and gave up three runs on four hits in three innings pitched. Adrian Martinez was awarded the win after pitching the last two innings without allowing a run to score. There was a bench-clearing incident in this game late after a hard slide at second base. Ken Bugajski was there in Fort Wayne for EVT. Here is his recap of the game.

Tri-City rallied for a 5-4 victory in 10 innings over the Everett AquaSox. Carlos Luis grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Matthew Acosta for the win. Jason Blanchard made a start and went three innings for the Dust Devils. He allowed one earned run and struck out four. Lefty, Ramon Perez relieved him and went three innings. Perez has a 2.78 ERA so far this season in seven games for Tri-City. Matthew Acosta, Jordy Barley, and Kelvin Melean all recorded two hits in the win.

DSL Padres (17-23) Won 3-0

18-year-old Dwayne Matos and 19-year-old Gilberto Sosa threw a three-hit shutout against the DSL Orioles in a 3-0 win. Matos is a right-handed pitcher from the D.R. who now has a 2.03 ERA in 12 games on the island. Sosa earned his first save of the year and has a 7.16 ERA in 10 games. Catcher Alex Ramirez was the hitting star going 3-for-4 while knocking in all three runs for the Padres. He has a .755 OPS so far this year.
