Despite only two of the San Diego Padres’ affiliates winning Wednesday, all three teams that played boasted an impressive pitching performance.

El Paso Chihuahuas (25-33)

OFF

After an off-day Wednesday, the El Paso Chihuahuas will travel to face the Las Vegas Aviators Thursday.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 3-2 F/10) (29-32 on the season)

Allen Córdoba- (2-for-5) 2 K

José Azocar- (2-for-4) 1 BB, 2 K

Ethan Elliott– 5.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 K, 2 BB

Henry Henry– 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K

A strong start from Ethan Elliott in his Double-A debut was not enough for the San Antonio Missions as they fell in extras to the Corpus Christi Hooks. Elliott only slipped up in the fourth inning when the Hooks scraped across two runs, one of which was earned. He is continuing to produce results after his promotion this past week. The only two runs for San Antonio came on solo home runs. Kyle Overstreet grabbed the lead with his home run in the third inning, and Jack Suwinski tied the game at two with his home run in the sixth inning. After the Missions failed to score in the top of the tenth inning, the Hooks walked it off in the bottom half.

The Missions will face the Hooks again on Thursday.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 2-1) (28-33 on the season)

Tirso Ornelas– (2-for-5), 1 RBI

Chris Givin– (2-for-5), 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 K

Matt Waldron– 8 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 8 K, 3 BB

Ramon Perez– 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 K, 1 BB

Two late runs and a dominant start from Matt Waldron led the Fort Wayne TinCaps to a 2-1 win. Waldron only allowed one run, and it followed a Luis Almanzar error in the first inning. Waldron then pitched the next seven innings without allowing a run. It took until the eighth inning for the TinCaps to get on the board when Chris Givin tied the game with a home run. In the ninth, Tirso Ornelas drove in the go-ahead run with two outs before Ramon Perez shut the door for the save.

The TinCaps play the West Michigan Whitecaps twice on Thursday.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 10-3) (28-34 on the season)

Robert Hassell III- (3-for-5) 1 R

Brandon Valenzuela– (2-for-5) 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K

Dwayne Matos– 3 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

Carlos Guarate– 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 6 K

The Lake Elsinore Storm overcame an early deficit to defeat the Visalia Rawhide 10-3. Dwayne Matos started for Lake Elsinore and, right out of the gate, allowed three runs in the first inning. Matos finished the next two innings before Carlos Guarate entered. Guarate dominated Visalia for six innings without allowing a hit or a walk. His dominance allowed the Storm to score ten unanswered runs, including three in the fourth inning and four in the seventh inning.

The Storm will face the Rawhide again on Thursday.
