San Diego Padres farm affiliates went 1-3 on Sunday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 12-10 vs Reno) (46-74 on the season)
Mason McCoy – 4 for 5, Four Doubles, Two RBI
Tirso Ornelas – 2 for 4, Double, RBI
Jayvien Sandridge – 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K (27 pitches, 23 strikes)

Chihuahuas starter Nabil Crismatt was torched in two innings, surrendering nine runs on eight hits and two walks, recording only six outs. The game became a de facto bullpen game for El Paso, with the most notable performance coming from left-hander Jayvien Sandridge, who struck out four in two innings. Sandridge has at times struggled with command this season, with a WHIP of 1.71 on the season, but has flashed incredible strikeout potential, which he showed in this game. Ethan Routzahn was tagged with the loss, allowing two runs in the eighth inning.

While the offense fell behind 9-0 after one and a half innings, El Paso’s bats fought back immediately. Kevin Plawecki homered, and Clay Dungan drove in two on an RBI base hit before a sac fly from Jose Azocar scored four runs in the frame. Mason McCoy brought the team into slam range with an RBI double. The sixth inning saw the Chihuahuas complete the comeback, as Azocar drove in Jose Sanabria with an RBI single, and a fielding error on a ball off the bat of Tirso Ornelas scored the tying runs. Mason McCoy turned the scoreboard in favor of the Chihuahuas with his second RBI double of the evening, one of four doubles off McCoy’s bat on the night. After falling behind 12-10 going into the bottom of the ninth, Mason McCoy led off the ninth with a double, and Cal Mitchell drew a walk, bringing the winning run to the plate, but Jose Azocar struck out swinging to end the game.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 5-3 vs Amarillo) (52-60 on the season)
Robert Perez Jr – 1 for 3, Three-Run Home Run
Marcos Castanon – 2 for 4, Run Scored
Austin Krob – 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K (88 pitches, 59 strikes)

A quality start from Austin Krob would not be enough for the Missions, as the Missions’ relief corps allowed four runs across the seventh and eighth innings to drop the game 5-3. Robert Perez Jr crushed his eighth home run of the season in the second inning, giving the Missions a 3-0 lead. This early run support allowed Austin Krob to cruise through six strong innings, striking out five along the way. Krob was given trouble from the top of the Amarillo lineup but never allowed an inning to snowball, inducing weak contact to exit innings mostly unscathed. It was the third time in four August starts where Krob allowed only one run in a start, as the left-hander has been trending up in August after a rough July.

Bradgley Rodriguez took the mound in the seventh but was unable to escape the inning as he walked the first two batters he faced. After a strikeout, Amarillo second baseman Jean Walters turned on a Rodriguez pitch, sending a double to right field and tying the game at three. It was the first time opponents had scored an earned run against the right-hander since June 27, a span of 15 appearances and 15.1 innings. Bobby Milacki allowed the inherited runner to score, charging Rodriguez with three runs across 0.1 innings. Milacki allowed a run of his own to put the Missions behind 5-3, and despite the team bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs in the ninth, Marcos Castanon popped out to end the game.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 7-1 vs Dayton) (45-69 on the season)
Addison Kopack – 2 for 4, Two Doubles, RBI
Ethan Salas – 1 for 4, Single, Walk
Braden Nett – 3 IP, 3 H, 3 R (1 ER), 3 BB, 6 K (69 pitches, 39 strikes)

The potent TinCaps offense on display in the team’s recent outings was absent from their series-closing game against the Dayton Dragons. A three-run second inning for Dayton set the TinCaps behind early, as a fielding error from Nik McClaughry opened the scoring. Braden Nett allowed three runs in three innings, although only one of those runs was earned. Nett struck out six batters in those three innings, walking three and allowing three hits. Nett has shown improved performance in August, striking out 23 in 19.2 innings and posting a 2.29 ERA in four starts.

The biggest story on the offense was Addison Kopack, as the TinCaps catcher notched his first two hits at the High-A level. Kopack slugged two doubles, one of which drove in the TinCaps’ lone run of the game. Nick Vogt also recorded two hits, and Nerwilian Cedeno hit a triple of his own. Ethan Salas reached base twice in the game, once via walk and once via base hit. Salas recently made adjustments to his stance at the plate and is slugging .431 in August, his best slugging percentage in a month this season.

I'd like this amount to

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 10-4 vs Inland Empire) (59-53 on the season)
Braedon Karpathios – 3 for 3, Double, RBI
Jack Costello – 1 for 3, Three-Run Home Run
Johan Moreno – 4 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 3 K (66 pitches, 41 strikes)

After falling behind 4-0 after two innings, the Lake Elsinore offense would fire back with ten unanswered runs, including a nine-run sixth inning. Starter Johan Moreno fought through four hits and two walks in the first two innings, surrendering three runs in a 25-pitch second inning. Moreno bounced back to allow one hits in the next two innings, departing the game after four innings and 66 pitches. Braedon Karpathios’ 24th double of the season drove in Brandon Butterworth from first to put the Storm on the board. It wouldn’t be until the sixth inning when the Lake Elsinore offense fully kicked into gear.

After loading the bases with no outs, Colton Vincent drove the team within one run with a two-RBI double. Ryan Wilson walked, and with one out, Kai Roberts put the Storm ahead with a two-RBI single of his own. Jack Costello then launched a three-run home run to put the team up 8-4, scoring the seventh run of the inning for Lake Elsinore. It marked Costello’s fourth home run in eleven games at Single-A and his eight extra-base hit in that span. The inning didn’t end there, as Brendan Durfee walked and scored on a pickoff error at second, and Colton Vincent’s second double of the inning capped off the scoring, finishing the inning with a 10-4 Storm lead. Braian Salazar struck out three in two innings of relief through the seventh and eighth innings, and Alejandro Lugo closed out the win with a shutout ninth inning.
