The eighth inning run cut the South Bend lead to 2-1 at the time, but the Cubs were able to push across three in the top of the ninth to separate themselves, ultimately holding on to that score.

This theme would go on through the top of the seventh when Visalia took a 7-6 lead and held on for the victory.
Robert Hassell III left Wednesday’s game after being hit by a pitch in the first inning. Hassell stayed in the game at the time, scoring on a base hit before eventually being pulled due to the hit-by-pitch. No further news has been announced.
