The San Diego Padres, minor league affiliates, went 1-0 on Wednesday. All affiliates will begin play Thursday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 8-5 vs. Sacramento River Cats) (3-2 on the season)

Fernando Tatis Jr: (1-for-2), HR, RBI, 2 R, 2 BB, K

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit the first home run of his time in El Paso, sending a fastball over the left-center field wall. He added a pair of walks, scoring two runs in the game.

It was a nightmare start for El Paso, as Sacramento scored five runs in the second inning. The first six hitters of the inning all reached for the River Cats. A bases-clearing double for Ricardo Genoves put Sacramento up four before Genoves scored on a sacrifice fly. However, the Chihuahuas stuck with Pedro Avila, who produced three scoreless innings to keep El Paso in the game.

The Chihuahuas got to work, cutting into the lead. Matt Batten put El Paso on the board with an RBI single in the third before Tatis’ homer brought the game within three. Despite not recording a hit in the sixth, the Chihuahuas scored four runs in the inning, taking the lead. Thanks to six walks, a hit batter, a sacrifice fly, and a RBI groundout, El Paso found their way into the lead. A two-out double from Yorman Rodriguez in the eighth provided some much-needed insurance for the Chihuahuas. Moises Lugo recorded a 1-2-3 inning to secure the save.
