This Saturday, May 25, there will be a very special exhibition match between former Club America and Chivas players at the Estadio Chevron in Tijuana.

The game has been promoted as “partido de leyendas” and features several former stars of both teams, some of them are considered club legends.

The Club America vs. Chivas rivalry is considered the best in Mexico between the two teams with the biggest fan bases. Both teams visited the Estadio Caliente this past 2024 Clausura season, and the away fans were the majority on both occasions.

Some of the confirmed players for Club America that will feature in this match include Luis Roberto Alves “Zague,” Salvador Cabanas, Luis “Matador” Hernandez, Braulio Luna, Aquivaldo Mosquera, Angel Reyna, Paul Aguilar, Christian Patino, Juan Carlos “Topo Valenzuela, Issac Terrazas, Vicente Matias Vuoso, Armando Navarrete and Alfredo Gonzalez Tahuilan.

“Zague” is one of the more notable players on this list, as he is Club America’s top goalscorer of all time and is now a very notable pundit on TV Azteca. Salvador Cabanas was a star in Liga MX with Club America and Jaguares de Chiapas, but an unfortunate incident where he was shot in the head cut his career short, but it is great to see him back on the playing field.

Luis “Matador” Hernandez is also a huge star, who even features in EA Sports video game EAFC 24 as an icon. Hernandez had an excellent career in Liga MX and is also one of the most notable strikers to ever play with the Mexico national team.

Some of the players confirmed for Chivas include Ramon Morales, Carlos Salcido, Joel “Tiburon” Sanchez, Gustavo “Gusano” Napoles, Alberto “Venado” Medina, “Paulo Cesar “Tilon” Chavez, Camilo Romero, Amaury Ponce, Omar Esparza and Jorge “Chaton” Enriquez.

I'd like this amount to

Carlos Salcido is arguably the biggest name on this list with his illustrious playing career that even saw stints in Europe with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and Premier League team Fulham. Salcido also played over 100 games with the Mexico national team and is considered among the best defenders to ever play for “El Tri.”

Ramon Morales is another fan favorite and legend for Chivas, who was the team captain when Chivas won the Liga MX title in the 2006 Apertura season. Morales was known for his precise free kicks, and it will be interesting to see if he can showcase that ability in this match.

Tickets will be available at the box office at the Estadio Chevron in what is expected to a be a very vibrant atmosphere in Tijuana. Game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. local time (gates open 5:00 p.m.), but make sure to arrive with anticipation due to traffic around the area.
