The San Diego Padres’ affiliates went 2-3 on Wednesday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 12-3 vs Oklahoma City) (39-50 on the season)

The Chihuahuas’ offense showed some bite against the Oklahoma City Baseball Club, bringing across 12 runs. Eguy Rosario swatted his 12th home run of the season against Dodgers’ No. 4 prospect River Ryan, and Graham Pauley had his first three-hit game since May 29. Matthew Batten drove in five runs out of the leadoff spot as well.

Starter Nabil Crismatt tossed a solid 3.2 innings of two-run baseball on 65 pitches, and relievers Paul Fry, Tommy Nance, Glenn Otto, and Sean Reynolds each tossed scoreless frames. Reynolds, in particular, is notable, as the right-hander has tossed 8.2 innings of shutout baseball in his last four appearances.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 8-1 vs Amarillo) (41-40 on the season)

The Missions’ offense was stymied by Amarillo starter Dylan File, as the Missions’ bats struck out ten times against the opposing starter. Victor Lizarraga endured his worst outing of the season, allowing six runs in 5.2 innings. While the right-hander struck out five batters, he allowed three home runs, all in the sixth inning.

The offense was not great either, only recording five hits, four of which were singles. Brandon Valenzuela had the team’s lone extra-base hit with a sixth-inning home run, his eighth of the season. Valenzuela has been on a tear since June, and he could make a push for a late season Triple-A call up.

Fort Wayne TinCaps – POSTPONED vs Great Lakes
The TinCaps’ regularly scheduled game against the Great Lakes Loons was postponed due to rain in the forecast. It will be made up on June 11 as part of a doubleheader.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-3 vs Fresno) (40-41 on the season)

Jose Luis Reyes – 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 5 K (78 pitches, 57 strikes)

A three-run 10th-inning rally sank the Storm in their game against the Fresno Grizzlies. Starter Jose Luis Reyes tossed a quality start, allowing three runs in six innings. The right-hander had his control locked down, walking none and striking out five batters.

Reliever Javier Chacon had another strong outing as well, striking out three of six batters faced. Chacon has now been scoreless in seven of his last nine outings, striking out 26 and walking nine across 20.2 innings in that span for an 11.5 K/9.

Leodalis De Vries notched another hit to bring his recent hit streak to eight games. The Padres’ No. 4 prospect is batting .411 in that span after a rough start to the season, showing the upside the Padres saw when they signed him. Xander Bogaerts (who batted behind De Vries in the lineup) earned two hits of his own, scoring the Storm’s first run. Ethan Long had two RBIs, driving in Bogaerts and Rosman Verdugo in the game.

ACL Padres (Won 3-2 vs ACL Brewers) (21-28 on the season)

Aldo Lejia – 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K
In a closely pitched game, the ACL Padres rallied in the sixth inning for three runs, enough to squeeze past the ACL Brewers in a tense win. Starter Aldo Lejia delivered a quality start for a seven-inning game, tossing four innings of one-run baseball. Lejia walked two and struck out two, and the Padres’ bullpen delivered another solid outing, with Adler Cecil notching his second save of the season.

L.J. Jones recorded two hits in the game, scoring the tying run. The San Diego native has been a stellar producer for the Complex Friars in his month there, reaching base at a .500 clip and posting a 1.304 OPS. Infielder Hugo Sanchez delivered the big hit later in the frame, with a two-RBI single giving the Padres a lead they held the rest of the way. The team posted eight hits and went 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the win.

DSL Padres Gold (Lost 6-3 vs DSL Rojos in 8 innings) (12-14 on the season)

Roberto Burgos – 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K
What began as a 1-1 game after seven innings ended as a 6-3 loss for the DSL Padres Gold, as five runs crossed against reliever Alexander Agramonte. Agramonte committed an error on the first play of the eighth that opened the floodgates. Starter Roberto Burgos had a dynamic outing, allowing only four baserunners in five innings, punching five tickets along the way.

This game marked Burgos’ first career start, and the right-hander certainly delivered.
The Padres Gold’s offense made some early noise, scoring first on a sacrifice fly by catcher Yoiber Ocopio. Darian Castillo reached base three times, twice via the hit. Shortstop Yimy Tovar also reached base twice, and the team went 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position. However, the deficit was merely too large, and the Padres Gold dropped the game 6-3.
