San Diego Padres affiliates went 3-1 on Wednesday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 10-6 to Sacramento) (18-29 on the season)

Nate Mondou– (2-for-5) 3B

Cal Mitchell- (2-for-3) 2 HR, 2 Runs, 3 RBI, BB

Oscar Mercado– (1-for-2) HR, 2 Runs, 2 RBI, BB, K

Ryan Carpenter-4.2 IP, 10 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 3 K (97 pitches- 66 strikes)

The Chihuahuas got three homers from the offense, but that was not enough for the win in a 10-6 loss to the River Cats. Ryan Carpenter coughed up seven runs in 4.2 innings of work for El Paso. He simply did not have it on Wednesday afternoon. Tom Cosgrove followed him and gave up yet another run. The lefty has had a hard time in El Paso since his demotion and now has a 23.63 ERA. Nick Hernandez struck out five in two innings of work and now owns a 2.29 ERA on the season.

Cal Mitchell blasted two homers on the day the Padres promoted David Peralta to the major league team. Mitchell, a local product, has been on the El Paso roster all season and is obviously eager to make it back to the majors. Oscar Mercado also homered, and Nate Mondou went 2-for-5 with a triple in the game. Tirso Ornelas went 1-for-3 and owns a .844 OPS in El Paso.

San Antonio Missions (Won 4-3 over Wichita in 10 innings) (20-19 on the season)

Cole Cummings– (2-for-5) RBI, 2 K

Robbie Tenerowicz– (1-for-4) 2 RBI, BB

Marcos Castanon– (1-for-4) 2B, Run, BB

Ryan Bergert– 4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, K (87 pitches- 52 strikes)

The Missions squeaked out a win on the road with a run in the 10th inning to seal the deal. Cole Cummings singled with one out to score Clay Dungan in the top of the 10th. Cummings was 2-for-5 in the game and earned half of the team’s hits for the game. The Missions only managed four knocks but made the best of them. Marcos Castanon doubled and scored a run, and Robbi Tenerowicz drove in two runs with a base hit.

Ryan Bergert started the game and surrendered two runs in the first. Bergert made it 4.2 innings, allowing three earned runs in total for the game. Yovanny Cruz pitched the 10th inning for the Missions and was able to get out of the inning without allowing a run. He picked up his first save of the year with his performance on Wednesday night.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 12-5 over Lansing) (19-22 on the season)

Devin Ortiz– (3-f0r-3) Run, BB

Tyler Robertson– (2-for-3) HR, 2B, 2 Runs, 5 RBI, K

Nerwillian Cedeno- (3-for-4) 2 Runs, RBI

Jagger Haynes– 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K (93 pitches- 61 strikes)

The TinCaps put on an offensive show at home on Wednesday as the team knocked out 12 hits and 12 runs in a blowout win over the Lugnuts. Devin Ortiz went 3-for-3 in the game with a run scored and a walk. Tyler Robertson homered, doubled, and knocked in five runs in the game. Nerwillian Cedeno went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Ethan Salas was 1-f0r-2 with two runs scored and two runs batted in.

Jagger Haynes started the game and had his best outing of the 2024 season. The lefty went seven innings, striking out five batters in the game. He lowered his season’s ERA to 5.67 with Wednesday’s performance. Bradgley Rodriguez pitched a scoreless inning and continues to impress. Jose Geraldo surrendered four earned runs as he pitched the 9th inning and was roughed up.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 6-5 over San Jose in 10 innings) (20-19 on the season)

Braedon Karpathios– (3-for-4) 3B, 2 2B, Run, RBI, BB, K

Romeo Sanabria– (2-for-4) HR, RBI, Run, BB, K

Wyatt Hoffman– (1-for-3) HR, 4 RBI, Run, 2 K

Jose Luis Reyes– 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 6 K (72 pitches- 46 strikes)

Wyatt Hoffman hit a sacrifice fly with one out to walk off the Storm against San Jose. Hoffman was 1-for-3 in the game with a homer and four total RBI. Braedon Karpathios set up Hoffman with his second double of the game in the 10th inning. Karpathios tripled and doubled twice in the game in four at-bats. Romeo Sanabria also homered in the game and was 2-f0r-4 in the win. Leodalis De Vries batted leadoff and went 0-for-5 with three K’s in the game.

Jose Luis Reyes started the game and did not allow an earned run in 3.2 innings pitched. The 21-year-old has made seven starts for the Storm and has a 6.59 ERA so far this season. Xavier Ruiz threw 2.1 scoreless innings in the game. Luis German was credited with the win as he recorded the last four outs of the game for Lake Elsinore.
