The San Diego Wave plays its opening game of the NWSL season on March 14 against the Houston Dash.

San Diego is still making roster moves ahead of that opening match, having recently signed Tatum Wynalda.

Wynalda comes on a short injury replacement contract through April 2026. The 21-year-old midfielder had a very successful college career at Pepperdine University.

With the Pepperdine Waves, Wynalda scored 23 goals and provided 17 assists. The Southern California native won back-to-back WCC titles at Pepperdine.

Wynalda offers an offensive presence from the midfield, and it will be interesting to see just how much playing time she receives in her limited time with the club.

Speaking of offensive midfielders, the Wave also announced a contract extension for Kenza Dali. The veteran midfielder’s deal is through the 2027 season.

SD Wave FC Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton commented on this move. “In her first season with the club, Kenza made an immediate and powerful impact both on and off the field,” said Ashton.

Dali scored five goals and provided three assists in her first season with the Wave. This was also Dali’s first season in the NWSL, where she clearly adapted well to the style of play.

Apart from her offensive prowess and creativity, her veteran presence is also crucial for this club. Camille Ashton also commented on this factor. “Her influence goes far beyond matchday performances. Kenza sets the standard every day with her work ethic, competitiveness, and leadership. We’re proud to have her continue to be an important cornerstone of this club.”

With key absences like Delphine Cascarino, there will be added responsibility for Dali to provide offensive numbers this season.
