San Diego Padres farm affiliates went 0-2 on Monday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas – Off Day

San Antonio Missions – Off Day

Fort Wayne TinCaps – Off Day

Lake Elsinore Storm – Off Day

ACL Padres – No Game

DSL Padres Gold (Lost 1-0 vs DSL CLE Mendoza) (26-28 on the season)
Frailyn Severino – 2 for 4
Yimy Tovar – 1 for 3, Double
Dariel Polanco – 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R (0 ER), 0 BB, 0 K

A pitcher’s duel between Dariel Polanco and Cleveland’s Manuel Osorio saw the DSL Padres Gold shut out in a 1-0 loss. Polanco pitched well for the Padres’ affiliate, going five innings and allowing only one unearned run. In three starts in August, Polanco has yet to allow an earned run, tossing 17 innings in that span. At the plate, Yimy Tovar recorded his tenth double of the season, and third baseman Frailyn Severino hit two singles of his own as part of five hits the team accumulated against Cleveland pitching. Severino’ second single put the tying run on base in the top of the ninth with two outs, but designated hitter Yoiber Ocopio, whose .827 OPS led the members of the starting lineup, struck out swinging to end the game.

DSL Padres Brown (Lost 9-4 vs DSL Red Sox Red) (15-40 on the season)
Dayquer Alfonzo – 4 for 5, Double
Johendry Javier – 2 for 4, RBI Single
Abraham Agramonte – 5 IP, 7 H, 6 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 2 K

A rough start for Abraham Agramonte put the DSL Padres Brown behind early, as the right-hander allowed six runs (four earned) in five innings. Agramonte has faced struggles in his last three outings, posting an ERA of 10.00 in nine innings across two starts and a relief appearance. Right-hander Shurland Smith had a valiant relief outing, tossing three shutout innings with four punchouts.
Designated hitter and Venezuela native Dayquer Alfonzo continued his strong debut season with a four-hit day, including his fifth double of the season. Outfielder Eddson Martinez had two hits after entering the game in the second inning, and Johendry Javier drove in a run on an RBI single in the sixth inning. The team walked four times in the game, but a meager 3 for 17 with runners in scoring position held the team back as they went on to lose 9-4.
