San Diego Padres affiliates went 3-4 on Friday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 7-5 to Sugar Land) (40-54 on the season)

Eguy Rosario– (2-for-5) 2 3B, 2 Runs, K

Calvin Mitchell– (2-for-4) 2B, RBI, K

Gabe Mosser– 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 8 K (92 pitches- 61 strikes)

The Chihuahuas lost 7-5 in a game they should have won. Five runs in the top of the 9th doomed El Paso as the bullpen fell apart late in the game. Tommy Nance was charged with the loss as he allowed five unearned runs. Nate Mondou made a huge error, which ended up being the difference. Gabe Mosser started the game and pitched well, going six innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out eight batters. Eguy Rosario tripled twice in the loss, and Brett Sullivan homered for El Paso.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 5-2 to Arkansas) (43-43 on the season)

Cole Cummings-(1-for-4) HR, RBI, Run, K

Jaryd Dale- (1-for-3) 2B, Run

Victor Lizarraga– 4.1 IP, 1 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 5 K (77 pitches- 39 strikes)

The Missions lost 5-2 on a four-run inning for Arkansas, which guided them to the victory. Victor Lizarraga was pitching well but failed to get out of the fifth inning, going 4.1 innings and allowing three earned runs in the loss. Lizarraga only surrendered one hit in the game but did issue five free passes. Cole Cummings homered, and Jarryd Dale doubled and scored a run for the Missions. Robert Perez Jr. went 0-for-3 in the game with three strikeouts.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 3-2 to Lake County) (37-51 on the season)

Nick Vogt– (2-for-4) RBI, K

Devin Ortiz-(3-for-4) 2B, Run, RBI

Jagger Haynes– 3 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K (65 pitches- 36 strikes)

Fort Wayne outhit the Captains 10-to-4 but lost the game 3-2 as they simply could not get the timely hit. Devin Ortiz went 3-for-4 with a double, and Nick Vogt recorded two hits and an RBI. The TinCaps’ pitching staff allowed eight walks in the game and that was a big difference in the loss. Jagger Haynes started the game and went three innings, allowing two earned runs. He walked four batters himself in the loss. Bradgley Rodriguez threw a scoreless inning for the TinCaps and lowered his ERA to 3.00 on the season.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 15-6 over Rancho Cucamonga) (44-42 on the season)

Wyatt Hoffman– (4-for-5) HR, 3 Runs, 4 RBI, 2 SB

Ethan Long– (3-for-5) Run, 2 K

Ian Koenig– 3 IP, H, 2 ER, 4 K (57 pitches- 35 strikes)

The Storm exploded for 15 runs on 16 hits in a beating of the Dodgers affiliate. An eight-run second inning put the game out of reach for the Quakes. Wyatt Hoffman had a monster game, going 4-for-5 with a homer, four RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases. Ethan Long was 3-for-5, and Leodalis De Vries homered for the sixth time in the season and was 2-for-5 in the game. Jacob Campbell also homered and was 2-for-6 in the game with five runs driven in. Ian Koenig started the game and went three innings, allowing two earned runs.

I'd like this amount to

ACL Padres (Won 5-4 over the ACL Royals) (23-33 on the season)

Lucas Dunn– (2-for-4) Run, 2 K

Hugo Sanchez– (3-for-4) 2 2B, 3 Runs

Zack Qin– 3 IP, H, 5 K

The ACL Padres won against the Royals as the team came back from an early 3-0 deficit. Lucas Dunn went 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot, and Hugo Sanchez went 3-for-4, with two doubles in the win. Zack Qin did not start the game, but the lefty went three innings and struck out five batters for the Padres. Qin is 19 and enjoying a solid start to his 2024 season in Peoria.

DSL Padres Brown (Lost 4-2 to DSL Orioles in 5 innings) (8-24 on the season)

Eduarlin Tejada- (1-for-2) K, CS

Juan Martinez– (1-for-1) BB

Javier Salomon– 2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, K

The DSL Padres Brown team fell behind early and never recovered in a 4-2 loss to the DSL Orioles. Javier Salomon started the game, and the 17-year-old lefty gave up three earned runs in two innings of work. He was charged with the loss and has a 7.41 ERA on the season. The offense only managed two hits in the game. Eduarlin Tejada went 1-for-2, and Juan Martinez was 1-f0r-1 with a walk in the loss. The team struck out eight times in the game, led by Yorvin Morla, who was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts.

DSL Padres Gold (Won 5-1 over DSL Brewers) (14-20 on the season)

Yimy Tovar– (1-for-2) 2B, 2 Runs, 2 RBI, BB

Moises Valdez– (2-for-2)

Winyer Chourio– 5.2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, K

The DSL Padres Gold team got a great start from 20-year-old right-handed pitcher Winyer Chourio as he went 5.2 innings, allowing one run in a 5-1 win. He lowered his ERA to 1.54 in his first 23 innings pitched at the DSL level. Not much is known about this pitcher, but he looks to be on the track to pitch in the States relatively soon. Moises Valdez went 2-for-2, and Yimy Tovar went 1-for-2, with two runs and two RBIs in the win. Yoiober Ocopio was 1-for-3 in the game, and the catcher drove in two runs for the Padres.
